Saydee's Wonderful Update #Two

From JL:
Your prayers are indeed helping. I took her to the vet a few days ago for an eye pressure recheck. The pressure came down all the way to 9 !! Last week when the first pressure was checked and when her eye was so painful and bulging it was a very high 53. At this pressure damage to the eye can occurs. I was completely in shock and thrilled when the vet told how far it came down. I think the vet was also surprised that the number dropped this low and this quickly.
She has not had anymore pain as far as I can tell except when I place the eye drops. She will close her eye for a few minutes and that is it. This left eye is almost the same size as the other. All the cloudiness is gone, the pupil is no longer large. The vet said is was almost hard to tell which eye is affected.

Saydee is back to her outgoing, happy, spunky and sassy self since Christmas Eve. She's playing with toys and back to being sassy with the other pets.

Please continue praying for her as this is proof that prayers work. She will be going to an Opthamologist in a few weeks and I want this vet to say that she doesn't see any signs of Glaucoma in either eye. I have been praying to St. Anthony, St. Lucy and St. Francis everyday several times a day. I asked for the pain to be taken away, the pressure to be lowered and the Glaucoma to gone and all health restored to her eyes. I thank you.

Updated Prayer Request for Mystee the Cat

From Stephanie:
Thank you all so much. Mystee is still with us and she has good days and bad. She's going to the vet tomorrow to get an injection of anti-inflammatory which will help make her mouth more comfortable since surgery is not an option due to the location of the tumor. I will keep you updated. Thanks again. This site has given me a lot of comfort.

Urgent Prayer Request for Luffy the Dog...and Owner Shannon

From Jan:
I have just now gotten an email from my daughter, Shannon, she has been reading your blog.

I sent her your email address so she could send you a prayer request for her dog, Luffy but I have been thinking about and praying for Luffy for sometime now and would like to copy/paste Shannon's email to you as a prayer request from me for Luffy and Shannon.

Here is her email, Esther: some nights now at the end of his day hopping about he cant get up due to his front leg being so misshapen i just pet him and say "its okay Luffy." I know its only weeks before the inevitable happens. (you know the shot) i didn't realize till the first night he couldn't move that his mind will be strong and fine like if i could take it out and put it in a new body he would be fine. very sad and makes me cry. i just feed him and love him and am glad it wasn't today.

Thank you so very much

Updated Prayer Request for Scruff the Dog

From Nicole:
Blood work back...elevated numbers that can indicate kidney failure (from the trauma and shock of surgery at her age). Doc wants to keepher on an IV overnight to keep her hydrated and re-run labs tomorrow. Doc was concerned but relatively positive. He said he has seen much worse and if we can get her eating we may have a fighting chance. Michael and I truly appreciate all of your prayers and I believe that they are making a difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts...

Updated Prayer Request for Idea the Dog

From Manoo: Many many Thanks... My Idea is doing much better now. Her tumor was remarkably reduced a week after you started the prayers & the vet was surprised to see that. At first, he could not even locate where the swelling was. The fluid oozing also stopped in the first week. Her arthritis looks better too as she is able to jump on sofas and beds now which she really could not.

Now, the problem is with her cough that happens mainly in the nights & goes on for 2-3 days at a stretch & then stops & comes again.

Please keep the prayers going for her as she is receiving them & feeling them. Please pray that her tumor does not return in the body; that arthritis, cough & other diseases also get cured & healed in Divine Light.

I once again thank you for praying selflessly for my Idea. May you be blessed too!

Much love & joy to you all,

Urgent Prayer Request for Mollie the Dog

From Haley:
I came across your blog while searching for prayers for my dog, Mollie. She was diagnosed with AIHA yesterday after she was unable to get up off her bed. She's normally bursting with energy so we took her straight to the vet. It's not looking good for her and she's currently undergoing a blood transfusion. Hopefully her medicines will start working. Any thoughts or prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Urgent Prayer Request for Scruff the Dog

Nicole:
Please pray for my little Scruff. Someone shot her with a pellet gun last week. She had to have surgery to remove two inches of her intestines, which were then reattached. She has survived a week, but is now refusing to eat. She has been with us a long time and does not deserve to go out because of this!

Thank you and God Bless.

Update on Saydee the Dog

From JL: ...Christmas Eve she began to feel much better! She was finally getting out of her bed and so much more active. Her outgoing, happy, loving and sassy personality seemed to have come back. I could tell her one eye was no longer cloudy and as bulging and the pain was not so bad as she was keeping it opened.
Today she seems to continue improving. She is back to giving huggs and kisses! I am so very thankful.

I have been praying to St Anthony to preform a miracle on her. To take away the pain, the pressure and the glaucoma and not to go in to the other eye. I will pray to St Lucy as well.

Prayer Request for Quija the Cat

From the comment section:
Please pray for the safe return of my beautiful Ragdoll boy Ouija (Wee-Gee). Today is Christmas Day and he has been missing from our home since Tuesday. I have searched day and night and have only gotten a few hours sleep over the past several days. He is such a beautiful kitty so I hope no one has taken him. If they have, I hope they've cared for him until I can claim him. He is a strictly indoor cat and I am so worried. He has all of his claws but is such a sweet baby. Our house isn't a home without him. Please pray for his swift and safe return home !

Urgent Prayer Request for Toby the Dog

From Ronald:
Thirteen years ago this month (December) I was blessed with a little ball of white fluff whom I named Toby. This blessing was bestowed upon me completely by chance as I was walking past a pet shop and noticed him sitting there, staring at me through the glass. His little stare seemed to go straight to my heart. It was love at first sight and he has been my loving and faithful companion since that day. He changed my life (for the better) in so many ways.

Throughout his life he has had many illnesses and has courageously fought through them one at a time. He is nicknamed the “miracle dog” at the veterinary clinic because of his fortitude. However he now has a heart condition that I fear will, soon, take him from me. I pray that he passes peacefully if that is God’s will. I pray that there is room in heaven for him and that the love and kindness he has shown to me be rewarded there.

Would you please say a prayer for my little "angel from heaven", Toby.

Respectfully yours

Zeb the Dog's Beautiful Death

My friend Mary gave me permission to share her story about Zeb with you. Thank you for your kind comments and prayers for Mary.

My dog's name is Zeb. He pretty much died of old age. He hated the vets so I prayed that he would have a gentle death at home. The veterinarian had given us pain medication to ease his final days so he was pretty pain-free.

He died while I rocked him and prayed the Rosary. I asked Mother Mary to speed up his passing and I guess she certainly did because he died by the 3rd decade. Even though his death was expected I bawled for hours. Dogs are just so sweet and loving, I can't seem to resist them. Good thing Michaela was in school yesterday, I had no control over the tears and it would have upset her terribly. Thank you for offering to post his name on your blog - we will miss him so much. The puppy, Caesar, seemed to understand that Zeb was very sick and was very gentle with him at the end :)

Esther, I sure hope there are animals in heaven. Some say no but I think there are.

God bless!

Update on Bailey Boy the Dog

From Vikki:
Thank you... for posting our prayer request for our precious Bailey Boy. His pathology tests results came in today and it was good news. They were able to remove all of the tumor, no cancer cells were left behind. The tumor removed turned out to be benign, and not a malignancy as suspected by the doctors. Our family thanks God in all of his mercy for this out-come. We also thank you and your prayer warriors for your kindness and prayers. We will continue to pray for other pets and their people in need. Words cannot express our profound gratitude for prayers received. God bless you all.

Urgent Prayer Request for Bailey Boy the Dog

From Vikki:
He recently has had a tumor removed, a very aggressive tumor. While he recovers from the surgery, we are awaiting the pathology report to find out if the good doctors were able to remove all of the tumor. We pray that no cancer cells were left behind and that he may restored to whole again. He has been our faithful friend and companion for the past 9 years. The center piece of our family and we love him dearly. Prior to the surgery he showed no signs of being ill. He was his normal happy go-lucky self. We pray that we may see the light in his eyes once again.

Updated Prayer Request for Ferlitz the Dog

From Kit:
Please pray for my 6 year old dachshund Ferlitz. She had her back injury on Thanksgiving. I'm not sure what happened but she can't use her rear legs properly and won't go up/down the stairs since. She's been in strict cage rest for a week with strong steroids for anti-inflammation and paid meds but her condition did not improve when we took her back for her follow-up today. Her vet recommended for her to consult with a neurologist and set up an appointment with MRI to find out exactly what's wrong with my baby girl. She will see the neurologist tomorrow and will have an MRI and prayerfully, the result will not require back surgery. Please everyone I ask that you include her u your prayers and I also pray for all your pets and other family members who are sick or going through something. I really appreciate all the prayers. God bless!!!

Prayer Request for Eeyore the Rabbit

The Power of the Dog

One of my good friends in Hawaii shared the following with me. She said she has been wanting to do so ever since Coco died.

The Power of the Dog
by Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie--
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart to a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find--it's your own affair--
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-term loan is as bad as a long--
So why in--Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Urgent Prayer Request for Jasper the Dog

This is my sister Jackie's dog.

Prayer Request for Ferlitz the Dog

By her owner:
Please pray for my baby girl Ferlitz...she is a 6-year old long-haired dapple brown dachshund. She has injured her back while on my watch during Thanksgiving with family and since then she's been unable to walk properly and almost undergone surgery, but thankfully, her slipped disc on her lower back can still be fixed with strict rest and pain meds. I feel terrible that it was fault and it pains me to see her sick and sad. I miss her bubbly character, her wet kisses, sweet lovely face, etc. I appreciate all the prayers and thank you all in advance. I also pray to all animals that are suffering and sick. They are also God's creatures and should be treated kindly. God Bless!

Prayer Request for Luna the Cat

From Tricia:
Luna ran off from our new home and is lost. He loved the home he grew up in and didn't understand why we moved and why he had to share with another boy cat already here. Anyway, I am sure he is still out there and ready to come home but needs some help to find his way. I pray for Luna's safe return to his family.

Prayer Request for Diana-Faith Joseph

From Stacie Ann:
Please pray for my cat Diana-Faith Joseph she is in pain from wounds on her paw that resulted from an unknown injury. I don't have the skills and supplies to help her as she needs here at home, she needs a vet, I have no money for that or she would have seen one already. God is her only hope, He is the source of her miracle. Thank you. God Bless.

Happy St. Nicholas Day!

The following is from one of our friends/prayer warriors:

Thank you for everything you do, and for all those who pray on behalf of animals. Since today is St. Nicholas' day, I thought I'd share this lovely picture I found on the internet, depicting the kindly St. Nicholas taking the time to feed animals as he goes around delivering his presents...

New Pet Dog

Dear Friends of this blog:

I just wanted to say mahalo nui loa!!! I had been praying for and also asked for prayers that God would send me (my family) the right dog. We were hurting so much from Coco's death that I had to leave it in God's hands.

Well, we found the "right" dog! We adopted an older pup from our local humane society. We all fell in love with her almost from the time we spotted her.

She truly is perfect for our family. She loves us so much in such a short time!

Thank you again. And, please consider adopting a pet from the humane society. When I was searching for a dog, I was shocked at how many "owner surrendered" pets were there all begging for someone to take them home and love them.

Sad News - Staffy Jax the Dog

From Staffy Jax's Owner:
Thank you to everyone for all your prayers for our dog Jax. As I said in my post a couple of weeks ago, we were told by the vet that if he didn't get better by the next day (Nov 25th) we would have no other option but to put him down. Jax continued to fight and slowly we started seeing minor improvements. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and yesterday we had to put him down. I just want to thank everyone for their prayers for Jax, it gave us an extra week and a half with him :-) I will keep all the other sick animal on this website in pray, hoping for their total and complete healing and if any owners unfortunately go through what we did then I pray that God will strengthen you and your family, they may be only 'pets' to some ppl but i know just how difficult putting down an animal can be. Thank you once again for posting my prayer request for Jax D'Amato xxx

Prayer Request for Chita

From Cindy: I am asking for prayers for my Chita.

Urgent Prayer Request - Alex the Dog

From Beth:
Please pray for the safe return of Alex, a young Samoyed, to her beloved family in Nebraska. Alex was last seen nearly a week ago after she escaped her home, and may be in danger or injured and held captive by a disgruntled neighbor. Law enforcement is afraid of the neighbor and will do nothing to help. Please pray that this lovely dog is not suffering, and that her family with young children find their beloved pet.... these are good people and this is a wonderful, kind, sweet dog.

Many thanks,

Update on Pierre the Dog

From Lou Ann:
Joan reports that Pierre's biopsies came back with no sign of malignancy, no cancer, and all the prayers so much appreciated! Special thanks to all here.

Please do continue prayers, however, as Pierre's accompanying surgery was rather extensive and the dear boy has quite a large incision to heal - making it somewhat difficult for him to navigate.

Also, Pierre does have inflammatory bowel disease, and the first meds. and diet change to treat this caused him to get very very sick on his stomach and hard to keep anything down until that settles. Poor little fellow!!

So continued prayers most appreciated for Pierre and Joan; and for Pierre's sister doxie, Peaches, for her Cushing's disease to remain in good control.

... the prayers are truly so appreciated. Joan can't thank everyone enough.

Many thanks,...!!
It is really good news that Pierre doesn't have cancer. Thank you all for your prayers.

Prayer Request for Dibbers the Dog

From the comment section:

Urgent Prayer Request for Idea the Dog

"Idea"
From Manoo:
Idea, she is my 13 and a half years old dog. She had little bleeding on Sunday afternoon from one of her mammary glands. i took her to the vet yesterday morning & he said its tumor which can either be benign or malignant. He prescribed some anti biotics that I will give her 2 times a day for 5 days. And after that we again need to take her to the vet. He also told us to observe the condition as to how fast its growing and accordingly it will be treated. He might operate it. He said this will grow slowly but my dog is very uneasy.

My idea is sad and I saw little watery oozing with a little blood in it last night.

Idea had a major surgery for pyometra in Oct 2009 and her uterus was removed & after that she ha been doing fine. It was detected almost in the last stage. Another healing prayer group saved my Idea that time. I dont want to see her in pain or in a worse condition. Please pray so that the tumor is not malignant gets cured & that its does not spread in her body.

Also, she has arthritis & difficulty getting up, walking though she still is able to run & jump. She is very active inwardly & that shows in her actions too. Please pray for her so that she is free from this tumor & its ill effects and does not suffer.

Many thanks in advance,

Can you please pray that his bladder works so he is able to go on his own and also that we can bring him home with us tomorrow. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you

Special Prayer Request for Beauregard the Dog and Monica

"Beauregard"
From Monica:
Hi Everyone

Yes, we have done it again.

As you all know last week was very painful due to death of my young cousin.

As if that wasn't painful enough, the dog lover Melgoza family went into full gear and rescued another dog who was slowly dying.

After a midnight ER visit, multiple days in the hospital, looking for rescue groups to help me pay for his operation and finally meeting a wonderful ortho surgeon who told me his fracture would heal on his own, this sad phase, I hope, is really over.

When we first met him, he was outside in the rain covered in blood with knots all over his body and limping due to injury in front, right leg. He had been attacked by another dog and really just left for dead. I heard my aunt gave him Tylenol. They wanted to take him to the park to die or for someone to pick him up. Disgusting. So we took him and don't ever plan to give him back (he is not registered to the family).

Every doctor who has met him mention what a "sweet little guy" he is, who would make the ideal pet.

We are not sure if we are going to keep him in the long run.

The above pictures show how tough the little guy has it now.

Beauregard is a gem.

Thank you for listening,

Prayer Request for Bella Bu the Dog

"Bella Bu"
From my friend Taylor:
I keep forgetting to ask you to pray for my sister's dog Bella Bu. She is a three year old Goberian (Golden Retriever/Siberian Husky) who has torn the ACL in her right back leg. My sister Carol has opted to try acupuncture, physical therapy and hydrotherapy before surgery.

The attached photo is of Bella in the hydrotherapy tank. She's such a good girl, never complains and always has a smile on her face. Her eyes can't hide how frightened she is, though.

Thanks so much,

Update on Pierre the Dog

Can you please post a prayer request on the blog, God Bless you always . . . .

Updated Prayer Request - Lucky the Horse

From Sushiboofay:
Thank you so much for your prayers. Our self-treatment of our horse's ear didn't do any further damage (although I did have an almost sleepless night worrying about it). Our vet was able to give us a treatment plan without having to come out and see him. Things seem to be improving, but if it's not just about completely healed by the end of the week - we are suppose to call back and the vet may actually have to come out (then we will have the money problem again :( ). Your continued prayers for a full recovery are deeply appreciated!

Urgent Prayer Request for Diamond the Cat

From the comment section:
Our baby, Diamond, has developed a tumor on his paw. He is an older cat and it is taking him over quickly. We pray that we are able to keep him as comfortable as possible and that he does not suffer. If he must leave us, we pray that he goes peacefully. He is a wonderful cat, a beautiful white persian so full of love, our hearts are heavy.

Urgent Prayer Request for Bailey Boy the Dog

From Cynde:
Please pray for my 7 year old Cocker Spaniel, Bailey Boy, who is undergoing treatment to return liver function. We returned from our honeymoon to find a very sick dog, rushed him the to hospital where he is being treated. We have had Bailey since he was 8 weeks old, and has been the glue to unite both my husband and I. We need as many people praying for a recovery to a quality life as he is our first born. I am unable to have children, so Bailey is our "fur" baby.

Thank You!

'Can you pray for my sick dog?'

I was in our parish church in Dublin this afternoon praying when I saw a young man of about 19 come in, kneel in the front pew for a couple of minutess, light a candle in front of the latar of the Blessed Virgin and then leave. I was thinking that it was a hopeful sign to see a young person do this. Indeed, yesterday at Sunday Mass, while the congregation at the Mass at 11am wasn't great, there were some young people present.
You can read the rest of Father Seán Coyle's post here. BTW, please keep Sam in your prayers...and his young owner.

Urgent Prayer Request for Lucky the Dog

Good News - Jundi the Cat

From Brittany:
My cat Jundi, who has been missing in another state for 14 weeks, will be coming home tomorrow! I just received this picture of her from West Virginia. I cannot tell you how much comfort and hope your website provided me during this time. Thank you to all who prayed, and I will continue to pray for your pets always!

Urgent Prayer Request for Lucky the Horse

From Cat: Please add our horse Lucky to your prayer list. Lucky has an ear infection and tonight we stupidly attempted to self-treat it with an antibiotic for sores and infections. I have sense learned that this particular antibiotic can drip down into the ear and cause the eardrum to burst. We will not be able to do anything else about this until in the morning and I am scared to death that we have really messed up.

Meanwhile, we have no money to pay the vet right now. Please pray that not only will our horse be okay, but that the vet will work with us to let us repay him.

Thanks so much.

Update on Atticus the Dog

From Stephanie: Thank you for the prayers offered for Atticus. He is recovering and we are hopeful he will be back to his old self soon. Prayer is powerful and we appreciate the prayers said for him.

Another Update on Daisy the Cat

From Mike:
I just wanted to provide another update. We are taking Daisy home! She has fatty liver disease and is coming home with a feeding tube for roughly 10 days. The great news is that she should make a full recovery! It won't be easy but she can do it. My personal thanks to all who have prayed for her!

Feast of Saint Martín de Porres

Holy Card from Peru belonging to my father

The virtue of humility defines a great saint. In that respect, one of the Catholic Church's greatest saints has to be Saint Martín of Porres or as he is affectionately known in Peru as San Martincito de Porres.

He was born in Peru the illegitimate son of a Spanish officer and a black woman from Panama. Because of the class status which was very important at the time, his father could not or would not acknowledge Martín or his sister as his own children. It was very sad that this loving little boy was not shown the love of his earthly father.  His father did love them but could not openly show any affection or love for his children.  His mother on the contrary, loved both her children. Because of the circumstances surrounding her love her the children's father, life could not have been easy for her or her little family. Yet it was because of her that her son Martin grew to know and love God very much.

By know everyone should know the story of how he grew up and wanted to serve God. He was apprenticed as a barber which was comparable to being assistant to a doctor. He also wanted to serve God by entering the Dominican order.  He thought himself unworthy to become a priest.  Instead, he wanted the most humblest job in the monastery. He requested the habit of a "donado" who were ranked lower than the lay brothers. He was only 15 or 16 years of age.
"In itself, humility is a hidden virtue which escapes our perception. It exists in the depths of the souls, and no one can say with certainty if it is truly there or not, because no created eye can penetrate to those depths. But when humility exists in the soul, it has a companion which serves as an indication of its presence: patience, which holds the field for humility without avoiding assaults, but rejoices int eh battle and 'through suffering, wins.'"

Holy cards usually depict Saint Martín de Porres holding a broom and surrounded by animals, usually a dog, a cat, and mice. The broom symbolizes his humility.  The animals symbolize how he was able to communicate with them and how they listened to his gentle way of talking to them.  He was able to rid the monastery of a mice infestation that way.  He accepted the lowest tasks in the monastery one of which was to sweep the floors of the entire place. He also continued to use the medical knowledge he learned as a barber's apprentice to heal people.

People grew to love and respect him because of his kindness towards all and his generous and helpful spirit. But not everyone felt like that. There were a few who treated him badly and called him vicious names. One such person was a novice named Francis in the same order as Martín. He called Martín "a mulatto dog, a hypocrite, a cheat" and this all happened as Martín was tending to him. Instead of becoming angry or indignant...or even stop helping this brother, Martín patiently continued to tend to Francis. Martín was actually grateful to the brother for treating him like that.

Later it was brought to the novice master's attention how Francis had treated Martín.  Martín asked the Novice master to forgive the young novice because "he Martín was really a great sinner, and his mother was a poor Negress, and therefore the title of 'mulatto dog' fitted him perfectly. Why punish someone who had spoken only the absolute truth? Francis did not deserve punishment, but a reward."

Even after being forgiven because of Martín, Francis continue to make life hard for Martín who always responded in a patient and loving manner. Inevitably, Francis' eyes were opened and he began to watch Martín closely.  He also began to follow Martín example in imitating the saint's holy life. Martín had won him over with patience and humility.

God has given us many saints like Saint Martín de Porres whose feast we celebrate today, for us to imitate. Let us thank God today for St. Martín, a gentle and true humble brother who became a great saint by loving God and his neighbor.

Prayer Request for Stretch (aka Pretty Girl) the cat

From Jim and Ep:
PRAYER FOR STRETCH

Eternal Father, we bring you our grief in the loss of Stretch and
ask for courage to bear it. We bring you our thanks for Stretch
who lived among us and gave us freely of her love. We commit
our friend and companion Stretch into your loving hands. Give
us eyes to see how your love embraces all creatures and every
living thing speaks to us of your love. Amen.

We the family and friends of Stretch (aka Pretty Girl) gathered for a memorial service last Sunday, October 23rd.

At 3pm we lit some incense on a table adorned by her framed picture (and the urn with her ashes), next to a vase filled with fresh white long-stemmed roses brought by a friend. Those of us who wanted to told stories about her and our favorite memories with dear Stretch. We started with how Stretch (and her "half-sister") came to be my feline companion and friend, then upon marriage how they both were adopted as our feline daughter/s!

We all talked and were teary-eyed over the wonderful stories of Stretch! Then, each one of us read a line from "The Rainbow Bridge".....

".....When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
......They play all day with each other.

.....When you and your special friend meet,
you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again.
You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then, you cross
the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated."
(Unknown Author)

Thank you everyone for your prayers and kind words. Today, on the Feast of All Soul's we lovingly remember Stretch's passing (exactly one month ago).

Prayer Request for a Missing Pet Cat

Urgent Prayer Request for Bonito the Dog

From Monica:
Your page has been such a blessing to my doggies.

If I can please bug you to add Bonito to your list.

He was left for dead after being bitten by dog. I rescued him about three days later. He was going to be taken to park to die. I ended up having to take him to ER/hospital for over four days due to high fever, infection, wounds. He has a fractured shoulder blade which needs ortho surgeon. If Sts. Can join me in begging God to open doors for me to some how save his leg. I am looking for nonprofits to help me pay for part of surgery.

He is such a sweetie. He has been through so very much.

Good News - Sophie the Dog

From Karen:
Although it took a lot of patience, all our prayers for intercession of St. Jude and St. Rita have been answered.

I have a wonderful update on Sophie. She was returned to us on Sunday around noontime and just received a clean bill of health from our longtime vet, Dr. Gates. He thought she had been fairly well taken care of felt that after a few more days she will be fully integrated back into the family.

We are so excited to have her home with her family again. As soon as she saw me she began running little circles and then jumped up in my lap and would not leave me until it was bedtime for my son. Work has me on the road for the rest of the week, but she is glued to my husband when I am not home so she is good until I get back.

As it should be, I have transitioned into prayers of thanksgiving and want to make sure to thank you and all your prayer warriors for the great support and comfort I have received through your site. I truly believe that without this great circle I would have lost hope and faith and not pursued this far enough to get Sophie home.

I will send you pictures of Sophie with my son at bedtime story on Sunday when I get back from this trip.

Thank you again and again for your great site and friendship.

Urgent Prayer Request for Daisy the Cat

From Mike:
We've adopted Daisy from an animal shelter last Friday evening. We knew that she was underweight (didn't realize how severely so) and was under the belief that it due to stress as she had been thru 8 adoptions in a little over a month. She has not been eating or drinking much at all over this last weekend, and was taken to a PetSmart vet this afternoon (we didn't know what else to do). They've done extensive bloodwork but have referred us to an emergency vet for IV fluids and xrays and said that she is jaundiced and may have Fatty Liver Disorder due to her extreme weight loss (most everything else ruled out). We've also received a complete history on her from the animal shelter and a little over a month ago this beautiful being weighed 12lbs and now is down to just over 4lbs. She is such a gentle, wonderful being and I pray that somehow she can be healed and recover to live a long life. She's only been with us for a few days but she has really touched our hearts.

Thank you,

Prayer Request for All Pets in Animal Shelters and Children in Foster Care

I guess many of you have seen this latest article: 'Miracle Dog' Survives Gas Chamber.

It is a bittersweet story. Poor dog! But it has a happy ending for him.

As we visit the Humane Society my husband and I are very sad to see how many dogs are in the shelter because their owners have turned them in for what ever reason. They look at us through the fence as if to say "please take me home". Most of them are pitbull mixes. I wish we could adopt them all.

Please, please, remember to pray for these animals. They all deserve a good home. While you are at it and more importantly, PLEASE pray for all the children in the foster care system. God knows they need His care and protection more than the animals do.

Urgent Prayer Request for Missing Pet Cats

From Annette:
Our two cats (ages 8 and 2) are missing. We recently moved into a home (about an hour away from our last home). As we were transferring our cats from our vehicle, their carrier came apart and they fell out of the bottom. They were so scared they ran away in a panic and we haven't seen them in four days. I am worried that they will not know where to find us. Please pray that they return to us. My heart is broken.

Prayer Request

From me (Esther): Can you please pray that God will send me the right dog. I know no dog will replace my Coco. But I would like one that will love us as much as Coco loved all of us. Mahalo!

Urgent Prayer Request - Willow the Dog

From Erik:
This past week, we brought our 3 year old lab mix, Willow to our vet to remove a tooth. Willow is a rescue and has been with us just a little over a year - as such we don't always know her issues right away since there was no history to go on. Following the procedure, willow developed kidney damage due to a bad drug reaction and needed some time in the hospital. She was released to us yesterday having shown some improvement in her kidney function, but today's test showed a slight increase in her values. We are in a holding pattern right now, waiting to see if the treatments have helped: that she stops wetting in her sleep and her kidney values improve. Willow can use all the prayers she can get at this point. We miss her exciteable spirit and her boundless energy.
With deepest gratitude

novena & litany St. Martin De Porres - start today feast is Nov. 3

Shared by Mary Jane. Sorry, this should have been started yesterday but if you do two today or go until November 4th, it can still be prayed as a novena.

Spent part of his youth with a surgeon-barber from whom he learned some medicine and care of the sick; known for his tender care of the sick and for his spectacular cures. Established an orphanage and children's hospital for the poor children of the slums. Set up a shelter for the stray cats and dogs and nursed them back to health. Lived in self-imposed austerity, never ate meat, fasted continuously, and spent much time in prayer and meditation. Great devotion to the Eucharist.

Start today, feast is November 3

Saint Martin de Porres,
your concern and charity embraced
not only your needy brethren,
but also the animals of the field.
You are a splendid example of charity;
we thank and praise you.
From above,
hear the requests of your needy brethern.

(Mention your request here...)

By modelling our lives after yours,
and imitating your virtues,
may we live content knowing that
God has looked favourably upon us.
Because this is so,
we can accept our burdens
with strength and courage
in order to follow
in the footsteps of our Lord
and the Blessed Mother.

May we reach the Kingdom of Heaven
through the intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Urgent Prayer Request for Fox the Cat

From Catherine:
Please pray for our 15-year-old orange tabby, Fox. He has been nauseated, eating little, and losing weight this month. He has a mass on his pancreas that seems benign, but may nonetheless be causing him problems. For a while now we've been treating him for inflammatory bowel disease and arthritis in his knees. His other test results are exceptionally good. We would love for him to get better and come home and live with us for a lot longer. But most of all we ask God for wisdom for his veterinarians and for us in making the right decisions for our beloved boy. Thank you for this blog and God bless you.

For Owners Mourning the Loss of a Pet - Book Recommendation

Our good friend Lou Ann, kind and loving soul that she has, wants us to know about the following book.

Franciscan Friar Jack Wintz has written a book in two editions, one for dog owners, one for cat owners, "I Will See You in Heaven".
I saw it offered, Esther, at the Monastery Greetings website:
www.monasterygreetings.com

Perhaps you may already know of it??

The Monastery Greetings website is a lovely one if you're not familiar, we have purchased lovely religious art calendars from them, they have a most delightful and caring staff.

Message from Joe D - Kimmy the Dog

First of all my apologies for writing "cat" instead of "dog". Kimmy was a dog and I knew that. I don't know why I typed cat instead. But it has been corrected on the original post.

Joe left the following comment there:

Update on Kimmy B. that passed away on 10/18/2011. I would like to share with other
pet owner's who are nursing their sick and dying pet on how I handled my heartbreaking situation. First I wish to thank everyone who sent me their prays and support at this most difficult time of my life.I always knew that when the time came it would hurt but I never would had guess it would hurt as much as it does. Kimmy would had been 15 yrs old this coming Christmas but her cancer prevented her from seeing it.I spent a lot of time with her never leaving her alone. Kimmy loved riding in the car so I spent afternoons and nights riding around the neighborhood with her to make her happy. I always told people that I could never have the heart to put her to sleep but when I saw how she was suffering I guess God sends an angel that takes you by the hand and helps you do what you have to do. It's true because out of nowhere I asked the Vet can we put her down in the car and he said yes .There were only two things Kimmy loved the most and that was sitting in my car and being with me.She feared pet hospitals the most and I didn't want to take her inside one for the last time. This idea came right out of the sky and I was so fortunate that my Vet said yes without hesitation. One of my close friends Tina accompany me that day and witness everything. at the end she cried and said how beautiful it was because before Kimmy was put to sleep she turned and kissed me as to say thank you.I was crying so much I didn't remember till she refreshed my mind. I had to wait till today a week later to have her cremated. Her body was sent to Regency Pet Cemetery which is located on Long Island. I wanted to be present when she was cremated. They actually have a room set up where you view your loved one for the last time. Just like a wake .We said a few prays blessed her with holy water and oil and said our goodbyes . They have you walk down the path to where the cremation is performed they take her and place her where she has to be place. And they cremate her. You come back in a few hrs. and they have her ashes ready for you to take home. I have to say I felt good after this. It gives you some more closure.I felt I treated her the same way as if she was my own daughter. When I die I will request her ashes to be buried with me. This is how I handled my heartbreaking situation. She went in class. I hope by me sharing how I dealt with Kimmy dying this last week and how I handled her remains it would teach and educate those who would have to face and deal with what I did what services are available for their pets. I still cry and miss her deeply but knowing I did the best for her lightens my pain and suffering a little. God Bless.

Prayer Request for Calvin the Cat

From Sara:
Please pray for my lost cat Calvin that he comes home safely. He has been missing for a while and I'm so sad and scared! If you live in the denver area could you keep a look out for him or tell others you know who live in the denver area to look out for him? He is a black and brown tabby with swirls on the side that form a kettle shape in the center. Thank you God bless!

Update on Kia and KC the Cats

From Dianne: thank you for who are praying for Kia and continue too,
after it seemed like forever she finally decided it was time to come out
of the little car carrier, now she is staying in the big dog crate, she is doing well and is feeling so much better. but now she is hissing and scaring the other kitty that has being in the crate too long before her.
So please cont. to pray for Kia and KC. so they will be able to work it.
KC is another kitty that was left by the same neighbor that left Kia
I tried also to take care of her. But she too was very very sick, and I was not able to keep her. So I was able to call my friend Diana( god bless her) she took her to the vet and helped her and also saved her life.
took her home and now she is a healthy happy cat.I do miss them both and sad also. please keep them both in your prayers. so they can become friends again, Thank you so very very much for all your prayers.

Joe D left the following comment for Tara and it was so touching. Please keep him in your prayers as he suffers the loss of his beloved pet.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know what you are going thru. On 10/18/11 I also had to put my dog dowm. She was the sweetest little girl. She would have been 15 yrs old this coming Christmas. Her nane was Kimmy.I loved her so much . She was always by my side like a butterfly. I can't stop crying . I never cried so much in my whole life.I took her everywhere. She love the car and at her last few days that's is the only place she was comfortable. She had terminal Cancer.I also feel bad being a religious Catholic I question if there is heaven for dogs.I pray that God does reunite us with our pets when we move on.

Prayer Request for Kitty the Cat

From Robyn:
Hello. I found your blog as I was looking for as many prayers for lost animals, that I could find. My beloved cat, Kitty, has been missing since Sunday October 16th. We are devastated that she has not returned. We have been looking day and night, put up flyers, went door-to-door, and my heart is breaking for our beautiful Kitty. We rescued her and we nursed her to health. I am asking for your prayers that Kitty will return home safe (or that she is safe, warm, well-fed, and away from danger). My heart is breaking and we could use all the prayers, for Kitty, that those are willing to offer. Thank you for your website. You have provided comfort during such a difficult time. God Bless.
Sincerely,

The Creation

Dedicated to dog lovers, especially those who have lost your beloved dog.

The following was emailed to me by my friend Taylor after I told her that Coco died.

When God had made the earth and sky the flowers and the trees, He then made all the animals the fish, the birds and bees. And when at last He'd finished not one was quite the same. He said, "I'll walk this world of mine and give each one a name." And so He traveled far and wide and everywhere He went, a little creature followed Him until it's strength was spent. When all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea, the little creature said, "Dear Lord, there's not one left for me." Kindly the Father said to him, "I've left you to the end. I've turned my own name back to front and called you dog, My friend."

Sad News - Moses the Dog

From Tara:
On 10/18/11, my dog was put down. I was searching the internet for pet prayers when I came across your blog. I would love it if you posted my prayer request for me and my dog. His name was Moses and he was 14 years old. A good old age for a dog, but his health had gone downhill so much, he could hardly stand on his own anymore. I know what me and my family did was the right thing, but I miss my sweet boy terribly. Not to mention, I made a huge mistake of reading why people thought animals didn't go to Heaven. I honestly believe that Moses did go to Heaven and that he'll be waiting for me there, but to my shame, I sometimes still have doubt. Any prayers for Moses and I would bring me great comfort and would be a huge help. Thank you so much.
Please keep Tara in your prayers as she suffers the loss of her beloved Moses.

Good News - Maddox the Cat

From Kathleen: You can add Maddox to the list of answered prayers! Not only did he start to get better the morning after my prayer request but he is completely better now. The vet called with blood test results and said that he didn't have pancreitis or IBD or any other digestive disorder. Since he is eating and pooping regularly he didn't have a blockage. She has no idea what caused him to be sick and whether the antibiotics helped him to get better. I can't help but think it was the prayers! Thank you all!

Updated Prayer Request for Goober the Dog

From Sharon:
I am asking for more prayers for our little lost dog Goober. It has been more than a month now and I had just about given up hope. Yesterday (Wednesday) my husband received a call from a woman who said she saw him last Friday on a desolate bike path that crosses a country road two miles from our house at 9:30 at night. She tried to catch him but he ran down the path into the dark. She didn't see our flyers until yesterday when she called us. Who knows if it was him or if it was, where he is now after 5 days. The bike path is in a forrest preserve with coyotes and I am terrified for him if he is really out there. We posted more signs in the area and we are praying for a miracle. I miss him so much and cry for him all the time. Please pray for us. My heart is broken. Your prayer mean more than you will ever know. Thank you so much.

Updated Prayer Request for Jundi the Cat

"Jundi"

From Brittany:
It's almost been a month since I've heard anything about my lost cat Jundi (she's been lost for 3 months in another state). I was wondering if people could say another prayer for her safe return? Both times I've posted on your site, people have called me to report that they have seen her within days! It means so much to have a group of people who care. I will be praying for all of your pets! Thank you.

Sad News - Karla the Dog

From a comment left by Valerie. I wanted you all to see it:
Thanks you all so much for your prayers and love. Yesterday was Karla's last day. We had a nice walk in the beautiful fall sunshine and shared a few bites of orange sherbet together. She was a wonderful, loving "mama" dog who watched over her people and all our critters with love everyday. We will miss her much but know she's no longer in pain. She's probably running and playing with her buddy Max now, who she comforted in his last days. Your prayers and support have meant the world to us and we will never forget that. Love to all, Valerie
Please say a prayer for Valerie as she suffers the loss of her beloved dog.

Update on Maddox the Cat

From a comment left by Kathleen: To all who prayed last night and today - I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I woke up feeling like a new person today. Maddox slept on my bed last night which is very special. When he was diagnosed with diabetes we had to keep him out of our room because he was always hungry and would cry all night. Of course I'd be happy to see him hungry now. It was very nice to have him by my side, on his own accord, most of the night.

This morning, he ate some wet food! He actually ate enough that I was comfortable giving him insulin without pricking his ear. He fought his new pills. While I hate torturing him I saw the positive and was happy he has fight in him still and saw that as a good sign.

Right before I left for work I peeked in the litter box and saw a couple little poops. That is a GREAT sign and means things are moving in there. He is certainly not out of the woods yet but I saw many of my prayers answered. Thank you!

Prayer Request for Lulu the Cat

Prayer Request for Maddox the Cat

From Kathleen:
My cat Maddox is a 6 year old diabetic orange and white tabby. He has recently stopped eating. The vet thinks it may be pancreatitis though I fear he may have eaten something that caused an abdominal blockage. He hasn't eaten more than a few bites or pooped in 3 days. He is under the vet's care but currently at home. I am afraid he is going to waste away. To make matters worse, the problem started the day we returned from vacation. My poor pet sitter is blaming herself and scared that we blame her which we do not. I am an emotional wreck. The limbo is killing me. I would rather hear that it is bad and that it is his time or to hear that it is temporary and he will get better but nobody knows. We are facing more and more expensive tests and invasive procedures and more than anything, if he has to go, I want it to be peaceful, not after weeks of us forcing him to choke down medicine and forced feeding tubes at the vet.

Please pray that Maddox will start to eat, that I will have the strength to get through whatever happens, and that my pet sitter find peace that this was not her fault. Please pray that Maddox somehow know the pills are to help him and that the pricking of his ear is to only ensure I give him the right dose of insulin during this trying time. Please keep my husband strong as he is the rock that supports me. If I can't be strong all the time, please at least let me be strong enough to get through each work day. Please let whatever has to happen be it he get better or he pass happen quickly and painlessly.

-Kathleen

PS: thank you so much for your site. I stumbled on it today.

Prayer Request for Annie the Cat

From our friend Lou Ann:
For a dear friend, Jane, in Connecticut, her precious cat, "Annie", slipped out an open door when grandchildren were visiting two weeks ago and has not returned. "Annie" the cat was a very precious friend to Jane and her absence and the worry is very very difficult.
Perhaps with the many prayers offered here, St. Anthony may still be able to locate Annie and guide her safely home.
God Bless and thanks so much!

always,

Prayer Request for Abby the Dog

From Maggie:
Abby is a one year old red heeler that I adopted 8 weeks ago. She is very shy of strangers and she exhibits fear aggression towards strangers, especially men. I am working with a trainer who tells me she will never be trustworthy around other people and that if I keep her I will always have to be on guard. Please pray that she learns to master her fears and that I learn how to handle her properly so that she is a good companion dog. I don’t know her background except that I am her third home in her first year of life. I feel so sad and somewhat overwhelmed because I’ve never owned a dog that was not outgoing and happy to be petted and be around people.

I don’t want to abandon her, but I can’t keep her if she is going to be aggressive to strangers.

Anxious and sore at heart would describe my feelings now.

Thanks.
