PRAYER FOR STRETCH
Eternal Father, we bring you our grief in the loss of Stretch and
ask for courage to bear it. We bring you our thanks for Stretch
who lived among us and gave us freely of her love. We commit
our friend and companion Stretch into your loving hands. Give
us eyes to see how your love embraces all creatures and every
living thing speaks to us of your love. Amen.
We the family and friends of Stretch (aka Pretty Girl) gathered for a memorial service last Sunday, October 23rd.
At 3pm we lit some incense on a table adorned by her framed picture (and the urn with her ashes), next to a vase filled with fresh white long-stemmed roses brought by a friend. Those of us who wanted to told stories about her and our favorite memories with dear Stretch. We started with how Stretch (and her "half-sister") came to be my feline companion and friend, then upon marriage how they both were adopted as our feline daughter/s!
We all talked and were teary-eyed over the wonderful stories of Stretch! Then, each one of us read a line from "The Rainbow Bridge".....
".....When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
......They play all day with each other.
.....When you and your special friend meet,
you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again.
You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then, you cross
the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated."

Thank you everyone for your prayers and kind words. Today, on the Feast of All Soul's we lovingly remember Stretch's passing (exactly one month ago).
