I live in Kings Mountain, North Carolina and on Christmas Eve around 6:30pm my beloved cat Chase got outside and we have not been able to find him. My heart is broken. I have searched in freezing temperatures, during the day, the night, in a rain storm which turned to a snow storm. I cannot find my boy Chase. I have cried, I have prayed, and I continue to search every day. On hands and knees I search under bushes, decks and homes. Please pray that Chase may find his way back to me. He has blessed my life in ways I cannot express. I just want to hold him in my arms again and tell him I love him. Please pray for him. His name is Chase Lee Gailius, he is a 13lb. male orange tabby and I love and miss him dearly.

Urgent Prayer Request for Bellini the Cat
From Marcella:
Thank you for having this blog. We went home for the holidays and
brought our two beautiful cats with us, Noel and Bellini. My brother
the genius let Bellini out at 11:30 at night on Monday the 27th and he
has not returned. Since this is not his house, I'm scared that he is
confused and frightened. Please pray for his safe return and also pray
to that I may forgive my brother for being careless. We love Bellini
so much!

Urgent Prayer Request for Flash the Dog
"Flash" |
From Rose:
My name is Rose and my husband is Brian. Brian is disabled and has a hospice nurse come out to the house. As the nurse was leaving, my Chihuahua by the name of Flash ran out the door without the nurse realizing he was gone. I live on a ranch shared with a few neighbors but it is pretty rural in NM. I along with a neighbor and my other dog Zach searched for him all last night but couldn’t find him. I am in need of everyone’s desperate prayers. My husband is also devastated as he was his little buddy.
Please pray for his safe return. Thank you and God Bless You,

Miracles of the Saints over Nature: -Dogs, Birds and other animals
St. John Bosco |
It is absolutely amazing to see the obedience that relatively unintelligent animals often performed at the bidding of the Saints. The lives of the Saints are full of stories pertaining to the extraordinary influence of the Saints over many different kinds of animals. God, it seems, allows the Saints to have this extraordinary rapport with the animals, so as to draw their fellow man closer to Him by marveling at the wonders that He works between the Saints and the animals. The article can be found in its entirety at Miracle of the Saints: Miracles with Dogs, Birds and Other Animals.
Thanks to Sue C. for sharing.

Urgent Prayer Request for Kayleigh Belle the Dog
From Anne:
Happy holidays! I have the sweetest loving little Spaniel! My 9 year old English Toy Spaniel, Kayleigh belle, was diagnosed with Congested heart failure a few days ago. Unfortunately, she is in the more advanced stages and has been fainting a lot. It breaks my heart to see her coughing all the time and having these episodes of seizures. She used to be such a vibrant little girl. I wish it were possible to buy a medicine that will take away all of this at any monetary cost. But all I can do is love her and pray for more birthdays. Please help my family and pray for her wellness. The cardiologist says even with all the medication (she has to take 4 pills every day) she has about 1 year or so left before her heart will give up. My heart will never give up on her and I am willing to do everything possible to prolong her life. I pray for a few more Christmas with her. Please, please, please keep her in your prayers. I am not ready to say good-bye to her yet.
Thank you so much for creating this site. You are amazing for doing so.
God bless you and your family.

Update on Simba the Dog
From Cindy:
I would like to give you an update on Simba. I just left the vet hospital from visiting; He is on so many different types of meds and two IV's. He actually seems to be feeling better. They said that he is more alert, and his fever is down. Although, He is still not eating. He has a long road to recovery, but through all the prayers, My baby will make it through this. I believe God will perform a miracle just like he did when Mary gave birth to Jesus tonite. Please keep him in your prayers. I pray all during the day for him and also pray with him on my visits. Thank you so much for all the prayers, and everyone have a wonderful Holiday.

Urgent Prayer Request for Simba the Dog
From Cindy:
I ask that everyone keep my Rottie, Simba in their prayers; He was diagnosed with heartworm disease on 12/04/10; His vet immediately started treating him, and this past Friday, he just stopped eating; I tried everything to get him to eat; He ate very very little; Then Sunday, he ate nothing at all. I took him back to his vet on Monday, and he had lost 4lbs since his last visit; They kept him and started running tests; They have now found that he has an enlarged heart with fluid at the base of it and also has fluid building up in his abdomen; I love this dog like my own child. He has given me so much joy, companionship, and unconditional love; The vet says that it could go either way; They are giving him lasix for the fluid around his heart, antibiotics, and they are starting him on an IV drip; So, please, please pray for Simba..He is my heart.. Thanks in advance

Sad News on Dudley the Dog
Dudley |
From Sarah and Scott: We are writing with some sad news to share with you. We said goodbye to Dudley yesterday afternoon. He died peacefully, on his own, in his own time, and he was not in pain. We are so grateful for this. Dudley shared his life with us for almost 12 years. We are going to miss him greatly. Dudley was a great example to us - he never hurt, betrayed or let us down. He was not unkind, thoughtless, selfish, self-absorbed or mean-spirited. We only wish that we could embrace these qualities in our own lives.
Today dear friends sent us this memorial to Dudley:
"We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend." - Robert Louis Stevenson.
It will be a different sort of Christmas for us this year, a much quieter one, and the house feels pretty empty.
I (Scott) was very grateful for your website and your encouragement that I pray to specific saints, asking for their intercession. I feel this practice made a difference in my own life - I was able to let Dudley go when it was time, and I believe St. Francis came to bring him home.
Merry Christmas - Peace be with you,

Urgent Prayer Request for Zoe the Cat
From Audrey:
Please pray for Zoe. She is a very precious and well-loved 7 year old Tortoiseshell who came to live with my mother as a kitten. Zoe was an orphaned, cross-eyed little thing that my mother fell in love with and adopted. Two weeks ago, Zoe had a kidney removed and the one that is left is not great. She's home now but recuperation is slow. She's a real trooper in her little Santa teeshirt that holds in her feeding tube and graciously puts up with the regular feeds and medication down the tube. She needs your prayers so that she begins to eat on her own and can visit the litter tray. She's got wonderful doctors but needs your prayers to get better. Please pray for Zoe. Many thanks and God bless.
Prayer Request for Laali the Dog
From Simita:
I would like you to please help me pray for a missing dog called
Laali. She is elderly and has some discomfort in the hind legs. She
was on the street near my parents home in a small hill town of Almora,
Uttarakhand in India. With winter approaching, we moved her to a care
facility where she was well look after. Someone left a gate opened and
she and another dog wandered off. While the other dog was found, she
has been missing since Saturday, Dec 18.
I am very worried about her. Though I have said a silent pray for her
to St. Anthony, I would like your help.

Urgent Prayer Request for Sebastian the Cat
Sebastian |
From Jamie:
My 3 year old cat Sebastian has just been diagnosed with FIP. On Monday we find out how far along the FIP has taken over, although it is well known that FIP, no matter how far along it is, the disease is fatal and there is no cure for it. My baby really needs some prayers of LOVE and COMFORT, I wish him to be comfortable and happy for how-ever long he is here with us. He has always been the sweetest, most friendly and lovable companion. Thank You!

A Prayer For Feral Cats by Jamie Hall
From Norine via Facebook.
From Norine via Facebook.
Dear God, is there a place in your heaven for me? For people say I am just a cat. I was born to the freedom of the streets and knew only my mother to give me comfort. Now I am older, human eyes do not gaze on me like those when I was a kitten.
I do not understand why, but soft, warm glances switched to hard, cold stares so sharp they seem to pierce my very body. I am shunned and shooed and my only crime is to provide myself with warm shelter and food to survive.
Were it not for ...a few kind souls during my life, I may have perished. Yet, I would have perished free and living the life I have come to cherish. The streets are my home, it is where I know, where I feel safe, where I wanted to die. Being a cat, I have an acute sense, an ingenuity most humans would dismiss, but I fell to temptation for the morsel of food left in an effort to end my life. I now find myself trapped in a cage of wire unable to run, unable to hide. Is it right I am here because of one who could not tolerate my very being and set this death trap in which I now pray for compassion?
I long for the smell of the streets and everything I know as home. My heart is beating like a million drums and desperation drives my every sense and terror fills my soul. Dear God, is it right my life will be taken from me today, for no other reason than I am a feral cat, my life regarded my many as disposable and of no consequence? In life, I have neither hurt nor held hatred to a single body, my defenses were not of choice, but sparked by the very fear of humankind and its uncaring ways.
With my last breath, I forgive those who do not see me for who I am - a vibrant, healthy animal, that, through misfortune and at the hands of a human, found myself born to the streets. And when I leave this world, I pray you endow upon such humans a sense of compassion and a realization we are all God's creatures and no one life is of greater importance than another. I ask this so my death today may not be in vain. The time has come.
--- Dear God, is there a place in your heaven for me?
Update on Patches the Cat
From Spencer: Here's the update on Patches. The lung infection is better, but he is still breathing heavily. The doctor is trying to get the excess fluid out; and he is starting him on a diuretic and a medicine that opens up the blood vessels, so his heart won't have to work so hard. When I saw him today, his stomach had a lot of fluid in it. Once the fluid gets out, he'll start feeling better and begin to recover. Please pray that the medicines help him.
Thank you for your prayers. Thank you.

I found this beautiful prayer on one of the prayer cards I had. I will post it on the sidebar too.
In Your infinite wisdom, Lord God,
when You created the Universe
You blessed us with all living creatures.
We especially thank You for giving us our pets
who are our friends and who bring us so much joy in life.
Their presence very often helps us get through trying times.
Kindly bless my pet.
May my pet continue giving me joy and remind me of Your power.
May we realize that as our pets
trust us to take care of them, so we should trust You to take care of us,
and in taking care of them we share in Your love for all Your creatures.
Enlighten our minds to preserve all endangered species
so that we may continue to appreciate all Your creatures.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please join me in praying for Sweetie. He his my heart. He is an 8 year rescue cat, who was originally diagnosed w/FLUTD with the large food recall a few years ago. This is about the 7 or 8th episode since then. I don't have the money for a return trip to the vet, and am doing the same things they had me do last time. Oral water give to him multiple times during the day by myself or my mom. He has started to eat a little, but is still not really going at all. Prayer Request for Buddy the Cat
From Dorothea,Jonathan and Micaela:
Could you please include our precious cat Buddy in your prayers.
We are totally devastated and heart broken since we last saw him on Saturday night (4th Dec 2010). It's very cold here in San Antonio right now and we are so worried about him. Is he warm, has he got food, is he injured?
We love and miss him terribly and he belongs to my daughter(11 yrs) and it hasn't quiet sunken in yet that he is missing. He has done this before but he was only gone for a day/night.
He is 4 years old and we've had him since we was 6 weeks.
He is a member of our family and we feel that he is so lost without us as we without him.
I have included a photograph of Buddy.
Thank You
Q & A: Why Do Animals Have to Suffer?
Q - Can you explain the Catholic view or doctrinal explanation for why animals suffer? I struggle to form a coherent explanation which explains the seemingly violent and apparently innocent suffering of so call “dumb” and not so dumb animals.Read the rest of Aggie Catholic's answer here
A - Thanks for the question. If you have ever seen an animal in physical pain, it can be quite distressing. Less than a year ago, my dog was attacked by another dog and mortally wounded. For more than 24 hours she suffered physical pain until the Veterinarian advised us to have her put down, because she would not be able to recover. It was a horrible experience for us all.

Update on Cinnabar the Dog
From RA:
Cinnabar update. He is eating much better now, all it takes is a bit of hot water to be added to his kibble. He is up & around fine and he seems to be in good spirits. His vision & hearing is on the fritz so he is snappy & skiddish around Deezy, so we have to keep them separated all the time. Thank you all for the prayers!!
Good News on Angel the Dog
From Michelle: First update:
Most recent update:
Your prayers have worked!!! Our Angel is scheduled to come home late this afternoon! Her heart rate is normal and while she is still arhythmic, the amount of normal heartbeats have increased from 10% to 50% and improvments continue! She's n...ot eating yet, but she is drinking (which was crucial; otherwise they have to continue an IV drip), and the vet just told us when they let her out of her cage, she walked over to the door and looked at them like she wanted OUT! We are so blessed by ALL of your prayers.
Most recent update:
Angel is no longer arhythmic! She's not eating, but she DID take her pain meds and antibiotic wrapped in Philadelphia cream cheese from my hand -- such a good girl! And she is drinking well. Just some recuperation time -- and then, if the masses in her spleen were cancerous (still out for testing)
Prayer Request for Bear the Dog

Prayer Request for Buster the dog
From Linda:
Hi
My dog Buster just turned 8 years old. He has been such a faithful companion. He would reach people on a level that no one else could reach. In Sept, just 3 months ago, he was diagnosed with a malignant prostate tumor and given until Christmas to live. Today he isn't doing well. One of his eyes have half shut.
My prayer is that the Lord grant a cure and if a cure isn't to be that he ease his suffering and that Jesus takes him so that I don't have to make the dreadful decision.
Thank you for your prayers
Peace in Christ
Good News on the Special Prayer Request
From Michelle: I wanted to show you the answer to our prayers about a new furbaby. This is Sylvia Joy. We adopted her the week before Thanksgiving. She is the sweetest, most gentle and loving one year old Tuxedo kitty ever! Her purr is so unusual as it sounds like the "coo" of a pigeon! She does play a little but she is happiest cuddling someone or helping on the computer. Thank you for your prayers. I feel God has answered those prayers. Sylvia Joy will never replace our E.J. Or Katie-Bug, but she does ease our sorrow. Thanks and God bless,

Thank you for your prayers! I just received a call from the vet and Ali has Ehrlichiosis, a very serious and potentially deadly, tick borne disease. It can be treated, but if my vet hadn't though to test for this disease, Ali may have died. Again, thank you for your prayers and I hope that knowing about this diease may help others!

Update on Coco the Dog

Seelos, St. Martin de Porres, our Blessed Mother, etc. They really answered our prayers. It was a miracle that the vet had a cancellation yesterday. Otherwise, it would have meant a very long wait.

Prayer Request for Gus the Dog
From Miss Jan:
THANK YOU for a beautiful blog!
My 15-year-old Jack Russell Gus is at the vet today, they think he might have liver disease but that actually is a step up from the original suspicion of liver cancer. So, I was looking for a way to send a thank you prayer to St. Roch and St. Francis for that tiny improvement after fervent prayer - and I found the blog. It is so helpful and I will tell you why. I am not religious in the sense of organized religion but am spiritual but also have little idea to whom to pray or even how. I learned about St. Roch a couple weeks ago (though I knew of St. Francis already) and St. Jude because someone told me of this saint, so I sent pleas for help for my Gussie to those saints and even this small improvement of Gus' situation I believe means those prayers were answered. I'm not sure I should be greedy and ask others to pray for him too - you can see I'm sort of floundering in unfamiliar territory here. BUT now I have a couple of more saints (found in your blog) to whose attention I can bring my Gussie's plight with the help of the lovely prayers on your site and some of my own which are admittedly a little clumsy and lacking in grace.
THANK YOU for helping us with animals help them.

My beautiful and sweet Siamese-mix cat went missing yesterday... it has been 24 hrs now, and I am worried sick. I found a puddle of antifreeze under my husband's truck last night when I was looking for her. I knew something was wrong when I called her and she did not come. I fear she might have walked across the antifreeze and licked her paws.. or perhaps was attacked by another animal... or even snatched up by someone because she was such a beautiful cat. I am heartbroken, and so is my 82 yr old mom. Siamese Baby was her cat... they loved each other. Please pray for my Siamese Baby to be safe and return to us very fast... Momma's heart rate was running too fast last night, and neither of us could sleep all night.

Good News on the Abandoned Cat
From Star:
I do art therapy in my home as a volunteer - and one of the young men I work with is Alazar - he is 10 and has had an abusive background - however was adopted by this absolutely wonderful man who is a great father. We were doing our session and decorating pinecones for Christmas and they met the kitty. I explained what was going on and that I was taking her in tomorrow and how scared for her I am. Alazar and his dad are taking her!!!! She will have her babies in peace and quiet - and we will all work to get homes for all of them and the mother - and we will have them neutered. THANK YOU GOD - and thank you for your prayers. Please continue to keep her in your prayers that the delivery is good and that we can find good homes for all.
Prayer Request for Teddy the Dog
From Nicola:
Please say a prayer for my little old dog Teddy. His canine tooth broke off below the gum line and it is sore to eat. I am hoping that time will make the nerve die if that is causing the pain. I don't want for him to have an anesthetic because my last pet died coming out of the anesthetic. May God heal Teddys mouth in Jesus name.
Update on Smith the Dog
From Dione:
I just wanted to thank everyone who is praying for Smith. His blood levels have come back up a little and I attribute that only to the many kind, and caring people who are praying for him. We aren't out of the woods yet, so keep the prayers coming. I just wanted to share the little bit of positive news that we have had.

Urgent Prayer Request for Pregnant, Abandoned Cat
From Star:
A family in our neighborhood moved, no forwarding address, and left behind a pregnant little kitty who is frightened. I am feeding her and caring for her outside as I have two inside kitties and my landlord will not, under any circumstances, allow another in my apartment. Please, I pray to get her help immediately and have her get vet care, and find a good, loving inside home for her. I am unemployed and broke, and this is breaking my heart. Please, I pray for help for her. God bless.
Prayer Request for Skippy the Cat
From Melissa:
My beloved 8-year-old cat Skippy went missing on November 10, 2010. I'm so worried the worst has happened to him, as it is unlike him to stay gone for more than a couple of hours. He is a very sweet cat and our family and neighbors love him dearly. Please pray for his safe return and the strength of our family to endure the pain of missing him and worrying about him.

Special Prayer Request
From Michelle:
Please pray that the right cat will be brought into our lives. It has been a hard year for us pet wise. Our rescue min pin Katie died of pneumonia Feb. 8th, 2010. She was about 8 or 9 years old. In March we adopted 2 older doxies and found out they were heartworm positive so they had to be returned to the shelter as we were not emotionally ready to cope with a major illness in a pet again so soon. A friend ten gifted us an 8 week old min pin puppy we named E.J. It wasn't easy attending to his needs as a puppy and balancing our health issues, but we loved him so much. Unfortunately, on October 2nd, 2010 E.J. was killed by the neighbors lab when E.J. wandered into their yard when my hubby left the gate open and I neglected to make sure all was secure before letting E.J. Outside. My husband tried hard to rescue E.J. And was bitten on the hands. What he witnessed and the injuries I saw the last 5 minutes of E.J.'s young life horrified us both and we thought we would never adopt again. E.J. Was only 6 months old. Never again will we bring a dog into our lives, but we would enjoy an indoor only cat and will be soon adopting. We spend a lot of time alone and it would be great comfort. Thanks and God bless,
Update on Sadie the Dog
From TG: Thank you very much from all of our hearts. Sadie had surgery, X-Rays proved clean. Her surgery revealed a masted tumor that was sent to oncology in another city.

Thank you from the soul of us, for posting Sadie's plight and all that had prayed for her. We are forever grateful. We will continue to monitor your site and pray for all.
Our heartfelt best wishes and hope for your concerns!

Prayer Request for Rocky the Cat
From Sylvia:
My cat Rocky disappeared last evening. He is an indoor cat and extremely skittish so I worry so much about him out there on his own. We live in a building complex so he may be hiding in some corner. I was hoping he would come home during the night when all was quiet but that did not happen. I've been praying for his safe return but would like to ask you to join me in my prayers. I'm really desperate.

Sainthood cause for Blessed Seelos moves one step forward
From the National Shrine of Blessed Seelos:
On September 25, 2010, the official Diocesan Inquiry into an alleged extraordinary healing through the intercession of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos was finalized. Baltimore Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien convoked the Diocesan Inquiry Phase in May 2009.
The fact-finding Inquiry Panel investigated the case and heard the testimony of Mary Ellen Heibel, her primary physician and nurse, and other key witnesses, concerning Heibel’s cure of metastasized esophageal cancer. Heibel, a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Annapolis, MD, had been cancer-free since January 2005, even though the disease had spread to her liver, lungs, back, and sternum, and medical treatment had failed. The cancer disappeared one week after she helped begin a weekly Seelos novena in her parish.
On October 11, 2010, the Redemptorist Postulator General, Rev. Antonio Marrazzo, submitted the results of this investigation to the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints at the Vatican. With the Diocesan Phase of the canonization process now complete, Marrazzo’s formal petition for the Decree of Unsealing the Acts effectively begins the Roman Phase.
At some point in the near future, the case will undergo proper scrutiny by Vatican authorities who will determine if the cure meets the criteria for the one miracle needed in Seelos’ canonization.
You are kindly urged to pray for his canonization.
The Redemptorists

She is having nerve problems in her back that are keeping her from standing and she has lost much of her hearing. She may also have some heart problems. Much of this may be due to a temporary separation from me. I am working day and night to remedy that so that I can be with her full-time. All prayers for her and for me are deeply appreciated. God bless!

Urgent Prayer Request for Jebby the Dog
From Oona:
Our lovely boxer girl Jebby is dying. We know we can not cure her cancer but we were told she could go into remission with good quality life for the next 6-12 months so we started on chemo.
The first 4 wks went so well. The next 2 went okay. But last 2 she has taken a terrible nose dive. We see her not eating, so weak she can barely stand and with no energies left but to pant…
Yet her little stub wags her eyes were hopeful and happy – until last Week. Then this week we discovered after a couple of trips that she Has had a BAD UTI all along! Well, we are treating now with Baytril hoping her energy and will to live will return as the pain and awfulness of her cystitis infection recedes.
Please ask god for a remission from cancer, a response to treatment That can return her to some good quality life for the next few months.
Over the holiday season (jan) we wanted to take her home to say goodbye to our family.
Please ask God to grant us this request. That she may recover, and be well enough to enjoy the holiday season with us, and our families.
Thank you so much

Updated Urgent Prayer Request - Panther the Cat
From Heidi: He was unable to pee this morning and cried in pain when I tried to feel his bladder so I took him to the vet.
Vet found his bladder WAS full and they gave him some gas and had to catheterize him to get the urine out. They are going to keep him overnight with the cathteter in and put him on Valium as well as his prazosin and see if that helps but if NOT he will have to be put down as he, at this time, cannot pee on his own.
PLEASE Pray and Pray hard. HE does NOT deserve this as he is a SWEETHEART! I want to die myself if I lose him!

Urgent Prayer Request for Chloe the Cat
From Teresa:
Please help me. My cat CHLOE that I adopted only 2 and half months ago decided to bolt from the safety of her home on October 18th @ 7 am. She was adopted as a hardship and was going to be put to sleep. She was deemed unadoptable because she has behavior problems. The poor cat grew up for a whole year inside the small confines of a cage. She never knew love or human compassion. I took her adopted her because I could see the sweetness in her sad face. I fell in love with her. So I had a lot of patience and kept talking to her . Finally she was starting to warm up to me and my hubby. But then when i was on my way to work and he was home Monday she bolted right out the door. And he couldnt run after her cuz he is disabled himself. I had to rush home from work which is 45 minutes away (to add to it I got fired for leaving). and there has been no sign of her. I have been calling her. i set her things outside. I put up flyers and also put her up on Home again site, she has a microchip. But CHLOE wont go to anyone, she doesnt come to me, I only have GOD and prayers to turn to now. I have faith and feel she will be with me again. But I am grief stricken and have been crying for 3 days non stop. I hope you can help. God Bless and sincere thanks

Good News on Zap the Cat
From Becky:
I must tell you that I went into the woods this afternoon and there she was on a log just like she was waiting for me
My faith is very deep and once again the power of prayer is beyond words. I took the situation of our family cat that was lost and used it
As a way to explain to my son to help him understand the worry a parent has when a child is late and doesn’t call or text.
Thank you for the prayers and for your website as it helped me find comfort while I looked for Zap. I also learned to look up for a cat and that is who I found her
That you so much as your website is a gift from God.

Video of Injured Baby Hummingbird Being Nurtured Back to Health
The man who found this tiny bird lying on the sidewalk took it home hoping to nurse it back to health.source.
He took the little fledgling outside, where it perched on a stick in his hand. He took it around to the flowers to get nectar. The poor little bird seemed to have a broken wing.
As the man sat with the bird cupped in his hands, he was stunned to see the mother hummingbird hovering nearby. She approached the man carefully, first flying around his head. The baby bird called out to its mother, and the mama bird came in closer.
You won’t believe what happened next ...

She is now home safe and sound with her blind sister and her 3 other pals and we couldn't be happier!
I want to thank you all again for your prayers and warm wishes! I have said my thanks to God and to all the saints for their intercession especially St. Francis, St. Anthony & St. Jude.

i came across your wonderful site as i was doing a google search for the patron saint of dogs. our little girl mila is a 13yr old jack russell who has endured 2 surgeries and so many other ailments in the past year. in january she had to have surgery to remove scar tissue blocking her bile duct, she's had pancreatitis and is being treated for cushings disease. she recently had her gallbladder removed and they did a biopsy of her liver and there was a bacteria infection so she had to remain on IV antibiotic therapy for 5 days extra. that was 2 weeks ago.
the antibiotics were really strong, and because she was borderline renal disease, we fear her kidneys are failing. she hasn't been well the past two days and we are waiting for the results but it's thanksgiving weekend here, and we won't know until tuesday.
we love her so much and want to do whatever we can to help her, but we also don't want her to suffer as she has been through so much this year already.
if you could please pray for her that she will get better and also for us, for strength. i thank God that i was chosen to be her mom and am so thankful for everything she has taught me through the years. even at 13 she is still a ball of energy when she's not feeling sick and it breaks our heart that these things keep happening to her.
thank you so much -

Update and Good News on Coconut the Dog
From Pam:
I wanted to thank you so much for praying for Coconut. He had his surgery on Sept. 10 and just today he was actually out running in the front yard! His one leg doesn't work so great but it is more than I ever could have hoped for. He's figured out how to use both back legs together and he gets along pretty darn good that way... Thanks again and may God bless you.
Urgent Prayer Request for Frisco the Dog
From Cat:
I have asked for prayers on your list several times since Frisco our Golden who was diagnosed with cancer. Each time he has done better and I know my prayers were answered.
A few weeks ago Frisco was diagnosed with a lesion behind his eye. It was not cancerous - so he was put on an antibiotic. About a week later - his appetite was diminishing and he appeared to have developed a sinus infection (he has had chemo treatment for nasal cancer). We were given another antibiotic and he seemed better, but his appetite has not been good and he has been eating about half of what he normally does.
Today, he threw up this morning and has not wanted anything but water. I gave him a medication for nausea, but it hasn't helped.
We have an appointment tomorrow with the oncologist. I would like to ask for prayers that there is something else we can do -and that we see a clear path to it. If this is not the case - then please pray that I am able to make the right choices for my beloved pet so that he does not suffer.
Thank you!
Urgent Prayer Request for Tiggy the Cat
From Phil (Chase the Cat's friend):
My supervisor at work has a cat that was attacked another cat. His name is Tiggy. Tiggy has only 3 legs, but gets around very well. The other cat bit Tiggy in the neck. This resulted in some nerve damage that affected the side with the single leg. If I heard correctly, she needs to give him IV solutions and what ever else he will need to get better. Could you please say a prayer for Tiggy so he can get better.
Thank you,
Update on Dudley the Dog
From Scott: I want to give you an update on Dudley our Golden Retriever. Yesterday I said many prayers all day long for Dudley and offered my petitions throughout the day to Blessed Seelos, on his Feast Day, asking him to intercede for a miraculous healing for Dudley.
Last night our vet told us that the aspirate that was taken last week during his abdominal ultrasound was not an adequate sample to indicate what the large mass was (that was seen in the ultrasound) near Dudley`s spine. This was disappointing news as we had been waiting on tinder hooks all week long, wondering what the news was going to be and if a treatment would be possible. There are various reasons why the aspirate was not adequate, some of which are too detailed to explain here. We are now facing a new option of having another ultrasound for Dudley. This time a different kind of needle would be used which actually takes a piece of the mass into the needle, assuring that there would be cells present this time. This will then be sent off once again to the lab for analysis, which would hopefully give a more accurate indication of what kind of mass this is. We were told that there is some risk to Dudley with this type of biopsy, since the mass is internal, so a blood test has to be done prior to see if his blood will coagulate. If his blood will coagulate the risks are reduced somewhat. If we choose not to do this more aggressive biopsy, then there is no option for treatment to see if this mass can be reduced. We are wanting to do what is best for Dudley but we are once again feeling so unsettled to be faced with making these decisions.
Our prayer request is first and foremost for a miraculous healing for Dudley, and that he will be able to live longer with us in this world. If a miracle is not possible, we are asking for clarity to make the right decision for Dudley. If that decision turns out to be going ahead with another ultrasound, we are praying that nothing will harm Dudley when this more aggressive biopsy is taken and he will survive this process. We also ask for prayers that the results of the biopsy will indicate what this mass is and that there will be a successful treatment for it. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers, they are really helping Dudley.
Dudley is otherwise in good spirits and is not currently in any pain. His back right leg however, is becoming more impaired each day because of the nerves that are affected by this mass.
I will continue to ask Blessed Seelos for his intercession. Thank you again, for letting me post our request on this wonderful blog-site, and please be assured of my prayers for all of you and your beloved companions.

Feast of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, CSsR
As a Confessor:
"He was a much sought after confessor. Many eyewitnesses testified that he always had a long line of penitents."
On Blessed Seelos' Sanctity and Powers of Healing:
"I heard everybody speaking of him as a very holy man." - Therese Eckstein, later a Sister of Charity.
Father Seelos healed the husband of a devout Catholic woman. The husband was non-Catholic and ridiculed his wife's religion. The husband had a "suppurating ulcer" on his face. Father Seelos placed his hands on the man's face and prayed. The ulcer disappeared. The man not only stopped ridiculing the Catholic Church but later converted.
Father Seelos also healed an 11 year old girl from convulsions when no one else could help her.

On Father Seelos Approaching Death:
After his death, many miracles have been attributed to him, according to Bob and Penny Lord in the episode of Bl. Seelos on Super Saints (which airs on EWTN. It seems that after Mother Angelica suffered a severe stroke in 2001, prayers for Blessed Seelos' intercession were offered. After Mother came out of surgery, the doctor declared that one person had survived that kind of brain surgery and that person was Mother Angelica!

"He was a much sought after confessor. Many eyewitnesses testified that he always had a long line of penitents."
"I chose Father Seelos as a confessor, for I, as well as others, looked upon him as a living saint. His confessional at the entrance of the church was closely besieged on all sides. I had to wait about two hours until my turn came." - Brother Neithart
"I habitually went to confession to him...He was a very good confessor, was kind towards sinners, and he had a power that others did not possess." - Valentine Winheim
"I found Father Seelos patient, affable and full of charity. I never left the confessional without consolation and I desired to go to confession to him more than to anyone else. I felt he could read my heart. Sometimes he chided me but his chiding did not depress me but strengthened and consoled me." - Joseph Herzog, a penitent from Baltimore
On Blessed Seelos' Sanctity and Powers of Healing:
"The parishioners dearly loved him and all were full of praise for him. He seemed to celebrate Mass with greater devotion than others ordinarily manifested. As a confessor I found him patient, affable and full of charity and I wanted to go to him to confession more than to others..."
..."Seelos was grave and austere as becomes a priest. Small talk was foreign to him, and no one ever spoke of foolish things to him. He was nevertheless more affable and likable than any other priest I knew. He was always happy, and the spirit of Christ seemed to rule and govern his life." - Joseph Herzog

VETS RECOMMEND SEELOS
One night, our chihuahua puppy came down with a bad eye problem. The lower lid of his right eye was swollen and hanging down, appearing like a large red gel sac. We immediately took him to the pet emergency clinic.
The vet did not give a very good prognosis: the eye could be lost. We prayed prayed to Fr. Seelos. His eye was saved, but he would have to take steroids & eyedrops to bring the swelling down. Having had bad reactions to medicines in the past, we begged Fr. Seelos to cure his eye by morning. The next morning his eye was completely normal. When the clinic called the next day for a check up, they were astounded that his eye was normal.
They took Fr. Seelos’ name, and said that they would start recommending the sick pets to his care. While at the pet emergency clinic, I was approached by a lady, distraught at the condition of her cat who was dying of kidney failure. She asked me to pray that he would be cured, while her husband was trying to get her to accept the fact that their pet would have to be put down. I called a friend of mine,
and had her post the request in the Seelos.org guestbook. Twenty minutes later the vet called the woman in, who shortly came back out crying, “It’s a miracle, he’s o.k.” Thanks to Fr. Seelos, there was no more sign of kidney failure.
