Urgent Prayer Request for Bracco the Dog

From Evelyn:

Please pray for my dog Bracco...who is a 12 year old German Shepherd.....he has a large tumor in his abdomen and also the vet said something strange was seen on his liver from the ultrasound. Tomorrow June 4th 2010 - he will have surgery to remove the large tumor - but i am afraid it might be cancer or something worse....i always prayed to God that he would live to 15 in good health and when it is his time to go - God would take him peacefully on God's terms (not by me putting him down). I have had my share of animals - my first animal (family dog when i was young) had to be put to sleep as it had distemper. Then our next family dog lived 9 years and died by bleeding to death of a hemorrage. This picture is still in my mind. My next dog - also German Shepherd - Black/Tan - developed Epileptic seizures- finally had to put her to sleep.

In Your infinite wisdom, Lord God,
when You created the Universe
You blessed us with all living creatures.
We especially thank You for giving us our pets
who are our friends and who bring us so much joy in life.
Their presence very often helps us get through trying times.
Kindly bless my pet.
May my pet continue giving me joy and remind me of Your power.

May we realize that as our pets
trust us to take care of them, so we should trust You to take care of us,
and in taking care of them we share in Your love for all Your creatures.
Enlighten our minds to preserve all endangered species
so that we may continue to appreciate all Your creatures.

Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called "The Rainbow Bridge" because of its
many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge,
there is a land of meadows, hills and
valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm Spring
weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
Those who have been maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with each other.
But there is only one thing missing.
They are not with their special person who
loved them on earth.
So, each day, they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up.
The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one runs from the group.
You have been seen.
When you and your special friend meet,
you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again.
You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then, you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.
