Message from Oby's Owner

Sandra wrote:
It has been a very tough week and I am deeply bereaved at Oby's loss. A member of the local Church had to come out to my home as I had broken down completely. Thankfully, they kindly spent four hours with me and allowed me to tell them the whole story from the moment I rescued Oby over two years ago right up to the present day. This helped a great deal. They then have said that I can read a poem that I am going to write about Oby as part of the service. I feel this is going to be a long, hard road to come to terms with this loss but I have to go one day at a time. I miss Oby beyond words.

I wanted to thank you and all the kind people that have prayed for me and Oby. He is still with me in spirit :)

Good News - Millie the Kitten

From Sarah:
Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Millie was found 19 hours later far away in the middle of a vineyard. She then went missing again the following day. It appears that she had been following my older cat and was getting lost. She is now grounded!! However, I cannot thank you enough for all your prayers.

God bless

Prayer Request for Buddy the Dog

From Carol:
Our dog Buddy disappeared on 9/4/2010. No one has seen him since. We are heartbroken. We have searched daily but with no luck. We have spent so more than we can afford to with printing up posters and fliers, missing work to search for him etc. I have included a picture of him. Please pray for Buddy's safe return to the family that loves him very, very much.

Update and Prayer Requests - Dudley the Dog

From Scott:
My wife and I wrote to you in the spring this year with a request for prayers for Dudley, from Canada, our eleven-year-old Golden Retriever, who had a spindal cell tumor on his left hind leg. Surgery was successful and he has enjoyed a wonderful, healthy, and happy life, these past few months. For that we have been eternally grateful and thankful to God and I have prayed prayers of thanksgiving everyday since then. I have asked Blessed Seelos, St. Martin de Porres and St. Francis for their continued intercession that Dudley will remain healthy and cancer-free.

Towards the end of August, after an afternoon at the beach, Dudley showed some signs of soreness in his lower spine and the next day his hind legs did not seem to work as well as they normally should. WE thought at first that he played and swam a little too hard that day, but our vet indicated that something neurological may have occurred from this activity and suggested complete rest for 4 to 6 weeks. To date he has not shown any signs of improvement so an x-ray of his spine was suggested which happened this morning. The x-ray showed that Dudley has a fairly healthy looking spine for his age, showing some narrowing of the lower vertebrae, but not anything too severe. The x-ray however, did pick-up an enlarged lymph node, which is a concern. We were told that its location may be very difficult to aspirate since it is near his aorta. He will be having an abdominal ultra-sound to see what else may be going on inside and to look at the rest of his lymphatic system. This may indicate that he has lymphoma. There is also a possibility that his enlarged lymph node is caused from another primary source of carcinoma that has spread to his lymph system. This would be the worst of the two possibilities. We are praying that if this has to happen it will be lymphoma, which has a number of options for treatment. All of this has once again, plunged us, into a place of fear and anxiety of what is ahead for him and for us who love him so much. At the moment we feel sick inside and our stomachs our in knots. The news today has been very distressing.

Our request is first and foremost, prayers for Dudley -- that he will not be in any discomfort or pain and that there will be a treatment available that will allow us all to have more time together. We also request prayers for his wonderful vet who is so kind, loving and thorough in her care for Dudley as well as in her care for us. And finally, I would request prayers for my wife Sarah and I who are so heart sick and worried at this hour.

I am sorry to have gone on so long in my explanation concerning our request for prayers. I am very grateful for your blog site that allows people like us and so many others out there who are requesting prayers and to share our worries, concerns, fears, and thanksgivings. Thank you so much for your prayers and please be assured of ours for you and all who ask for prayers for their pets. May God bless you.

Urgent Prayer Request for Franklin and Ben the Cats

Update on Chase the Cat - Urgent Prayer Request

From Tara:
Poor Chase is just hangin' in there. The little guy hasn’t gotten any
better. So, we took him to the vet again last night. The doctor still has
no clue what his illness is.

At first the doctor wanted to take the “conservative” approach hoping that the amoxicillin antibiotic he prescribed at our last visit the other week would work. But, obviously it hasn’t. So now we are using a “broad
spectrum” antibiotic that is quite strong and hopefully, this will knock
out whatever illness that’s abusing poor little Chase. The vet said that
if it’s working, we should start seeing some improvement by Friday. He isn’t expecting perfection, just a little improvement.

But if he doesn’t show any improvement by the weekend.... then we’re going to have to think about putting him to sleep, as he is suffering. :( The vet said we can admit Chase to the hospital and do all sorts of tests to figure out what this is.. or even send him to the university of Philly to decipher what it is. However, he doesn’t recommend it, because it will probably only end up showing that Chase has something that we can’t treat anyway. So, this is poor Chase’s last hurrah so to speak. If this doesn’t work, we’ve run out of options. So please, please say more prayers for him for this final push. The prayers of course mean as much, or more to me than does the antibiotic for this final fight for Chase's life. Thanks so much!! I am trying to think good thoughts, etc.

It is especially hard because he is such a sweet, kind and friendly kitten. His disposition is fantastic. The vet told me that all the vet
techs/assistants in the office who saw Chase's name on the hospital
schedule last night were terribly sad to see he wasn't getting any better because he is such a sweet, friendly kitten who is easy to work with. If he were mean or an indifferent, aloof cat, it wouldn't be so hard, but he loves people and to be around them. Anyhow, i'll keep you updated.

Urgent Prayer Request for Reese the Kitten

From Elizabeth:
Can you please post a prayer request for me?

I am fostering a litter of four kittens and a momma cat for a local rescue. Our tabby boy kitten Reese, who is about eight weeks, become very suddenly ill on Tuesday. The vet believes he may have distemper. He is not eating or drinking, and he is listless. He has terrible diarrhea that is burning the fur on his hind quarters. We have him separated in a crate and are force feeding him specialty food every four hours and forcing water with a syringe. The vet says if he can make it through five days, his chances to survive increase tremendously, but 90 percent of kittens that contract distemper die. Every time I enter our kitten room, I breathe a sigh of relief that he is still alive. I am praying for him every night. Please pray that my little Reese makes a full recovery.

Very Sad News - Oby the Dog

From Sandra:
Oby passed today with his head in my hands and his eyes engaging with mine. I had been saying good bye over a period of three weeks as in my heart I knew I had to make sure he knew how grateful I was to him for being with me and so devoted to me. He had declined to the point where he could not walk properly. It was awful to see such a fine, beautiful creature that had shared so much with me and me pass at such a young age. The old saying only the good die young springs to mind. I have treated today as his funeral and cushioned the inexplicable pain of loss with brandy to numb myself and I am distraught, but had to do what was right to allow Oby peace. This will not be going away and I ask that you pray for Oby and for me, as I feel so lost without him and life feels meaningless right now.

I borrowed the money to have a private cremation and waiting for his ashes. He is in cold storage until next Monday with the vet and will be cremated then and I have to wait another week until the following Monday before I can have the casket with Oby's ashes.

I covered the issues I mentioned to you and the vet said that such an adverse reaction to advocate is rare. I still feel in my heart that this is what ultimately killed Oby as his heart condition could not have been helped by this. Everyone that has known us has said that they have never seen such devotion and that without the love that I gave him his breif life would have been very unhappy. I rescued him from a terrible life and I was his third owner. He was very damaged by people and I connected to the very core of his heart and soul and he idolised me. I feel I will never recover..........but everyone says that time heals...........

Thank you for your support and prayers. I am sobbing as I write this.

Bless all the kind people that have been praying for us. Thank you, Esther. God bless you.
Please keep Sandra in your prayers as she suffers the loss of her beloved pet.

Another Update for Oby the Dog

From Sandra:
It has been a roller-coaster of a week with Oby. He went so low that I thought he was going to leave us. Yesterday morning he came to wake me at 4.45am and he was wagging his tail! He then eat a little and drank and last night we sat outside looking at the stars and moon together. He eat again this morning and drank. I just want him to have every day there is for these special moments.

I am praying and hoping but also trying to prepare myself for whatever God decides.

Blessings and thanks,

Another Update on Panther the Cat

From Heidi:
He was peeing and doing well BUT suddenly has not peed overnight or since yesterday AM so he cannot come home to me.

Davis wants him OUT so he is going to his regular vet until he can pee on his own again. They are not nice to him at his regular vet and he will be miserable

PLEASE PRAY he pees soon as he gets there and then at least over Saturday night and Sunday night as if he DOES he comes home to me on Monday - if not then he gets the catheter in.

PLEASE pray he pees on his own there and can come home to be with us who love and need him!

Urgent Prayer Request for Oby the Dog and Sandra, his Owner

Most recent update from Sandra:
Sadly, I think Oby's life is coming to an end. I don;t want to see him suffer and his condition is worsening. He has just vomitted and lost a lot of weight. I feel it is cruel to see him suffer. I have talked to him a lot and thanked him for his love and devotion and he listens knowingly.

Please will you pray for me to make the right decision for Oby. I thought I could help him with the remedies but his condition seems to be severe - as the vet diagnosed - and it feels cruel to put him through more pain and suffering.

I need the strength to do Go's will for Oby, Esther and I need your prayers to help with this.

I am distraught. I am still praying the prayer on God Bless The animals page.

God bless you all,

Prayer Request for Raven the Cat

From Craig:
First, let me say this blog is wonderful. I'm very glad I stumbled upon it. I found it while searching the web for prayers for missing animals. Now the reason I'm here: My three year old cat Raven has been missing since July 5th, 2010. I still haven't given up hope of finding her but, I'm starting to get discouraged. She's my baby and I've been having a very hard time with her being gone. It hurts very much that she's missing, more than words can describe. I honestly feel like I need a miracle here, I'm afraid I'll never see her again. I've been praying to Saint Anthony and Saint Francis for her safe return. I will continue to pray. Please pray for her because I don't know if my prayers are enough.

I've attached her picture in case it is needed. It's not very good but, this is the only picture I have for her. Thank you for your time.

Update on Oby the Dog and Request for Continued Prayers

From Sandra: Oby's natural remedies arrived and I have started to administer them. He is very lethargic but I guess it takes time for the remedies to benefit. I had to leave him with someone today to work, as I work part-time two days a week. It is awful to be away from him. I am continuing with the prayers and hoping for a miracle.

More News on Olivia the Dog and Request for Continued Prayers

From Mark:
I just wanted to thank you again for your site. We have been overwhelmed by some of the posts and I want everyone to know that even as we deal with Olivia’s issues, my heart goes out to all who have a sick, injured, or missing pet, and of course to all who have lost the wonderful companions. These animals give us so much unconditional love, they truly most be sent from God.

As for Olivia, she had major surgery Tuesday to remove the tumor from her intestine. You can see the incision on the poor thing. However, she seems to be recovering well-in fact I think she has more energy than she has since we got her.

However we still need as many prayers as we can get. This beautiful little dog means everything to my daughter. They are going to biopsy the tumor, as well as her liver and lymph nodes. The waiting is terrible. We will not know until sometime next week. We know the news could be good or bad, but we also know that the awesome doctors that have been treating her, combined with prayer can do wonderful things.

Thanks to all who read these messages and God Bless.

More News on Chase the Cat

From Chase's Owner via Phil:
Well, Chase is coming home today. My mom will go pick him up at the Animal
hospital later this morning. His fever had come down to normal yesterday
evening, but went back up significantly this morning. He is receiving
steroids and antibiotic and it is helping, but not keeping the fever down
consistently. So apparently Chase still has some sort of unresolved
condition. The doctor doesn't know what's going on at this point and
doesn't believe there is much more we can do.. and we've done everything we
could within reason at this point. There are many more tests we can run,
but the doctor feels that the only thing they can tell us is that Chase has
something we can't cure. So, I'll stay close to home this weekend and
basically just enjoy him, keep him happy and comfortable. I'll keep
praying and see where it goes from there. The doctor said that he may just
work through this and be ok.. there is still that chance, but we realize
that's not probable, but as far as prayers, nutritional support, etc. etc.
I am not going to give up at this point.

I REALLY appreciate your prayers. I have been praying to our Lord of
course and also to my favorite Saints. Chase really is a sweet little cat
without a mean bone in his body. So, I'm sure the Saints don't mind
praying for him.:)

Update on Hercules the Cat and Request for Continued Prayers

Prayer Request for Zieke the Dog

From Joanna:
Please pray for my dog Zieke. He is more than a dog and I know people don’t understand that. But he was given to me by the love of my life before he deployed to Afghanistan. He bought him for me to keep me company while he was away. I clinged to this dog while my love was away and we formed a friendship unmatched by any other. Noticing Zieke’s keen intellect in training I started teaching him service dog tasks like helping me up if I fell, alerting people if I needed help, and walking next to me if I lost my balance (I am a disabled vet w/ multiple sclerosis). Zieke showed his true courage for me when I opened my door of my condo one day and there was a vicious dog growling, ready to attack. Only 6 months old Zieke jumped in front of me and let out the tiniest bark. It didn’t scare the dog, but it confused him, and that was just enough for me to yank zieke inside and shut the door. Then zieke did something amazing. I had stupidly disconnected the fire alarm (it went off every time I cooked fajitas) and I was baking a pie. I must have had a seizure, because I put the pie in the oven around 5 or 6 p.m. and I woke up around 1 in the morning. How I woke up was Zieke licking my face and barking. He was pawing gently at me and trying to pull my shirt as if trying to drag me. There was smoke, thankfully no fire. I quickly gained consciousness and was not harmed. Who knows if I would have ever woke up without Zieke.

You don’t understand, Zieke is my angel, he is the reason that I think I can survive with MS. He makes my life so happy. And I found a tumor on his back and am waiting for the AM to take him to the clinic. PLEASE pray that I am 100% wrong and it is not a tumor or if it is that it is benign. Please let zieke be in perfect health and let him live a VERY long life. I really need him in my life.

Thank you.

Prayer Request for Snowball the Bird

From Jennifer:

I pray that she finds her way home or that we can find her. Please add us in your prayers for our beloved Snowball who is probably scared, confused and cold.

Prayer Request for Olivia the Dog

From Mark: My 11 year old daughter has always loved animals and wanted a dog of her own (even though we had a great dog already). She searched and in February found a beautiful black and white Pomeranian that was rescued from a puppy mill. Olivia was shy but the minute she went into Jessica's arms the love was there. It was love at first sight. A few days at home and Olivia got very comfortable-she would bark at night at anyone walking past Jessica's room! All she wanted was to be held, petted, and loved.

Friday night Olivia became lethargic and would not eat. Saturday morning she was worse and our vet was closed. We immediately took her to a local 24 hour animal clinic. Her red boold cells were only about 8% (normal we were told is 35-55%). We then had to rush her to an emergency animal hospital on the other side of town for a transfusion-we just made it. Doctors said we were close to losing her. Anyhow they have (fortunatley) got her stable, but they did find a tumor on her small intestine. In the ultra sound her liver also looks a bit irregular.

Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, but we believe that the talented doctors we have found combined with the power of prayer may save this sweet little dog for our daughter. We would appreciate all the prayers we can get. Thank You!

Urgent Prayer Request for Trip the Dog

From Anjani:
My dog Trip is 6 years old. She is a Jack Russell Terrier mixed with something unknown and got her name because she loves belly rubs and expects them at any point in time including when I am carrying tall bags of groceries!

Tomorrow she is to have an operation to remove a growth at the side of her neck and have a biopsy done. I am praying that the results will say that it is benign. This will be the second time in five days she will undergo anaesthesia and I am very frightened for her.

I would be so very grateful for any prayers offered for her.

Thank you so much.

Urgent Prayer Request for Oby the Dog

From Sandra:
Oby perked up considerably yesterday. He eat well and took all his meds and had two short walks.

Today he is not eating and this makes giving him his meds difficult.

Please will you continue to pray for us. I am feeling very desperate and trying hard not to cry all the time.

Update and AN URGENT Prayer Request for Panther the Cat

From Heidi:

MOST RECENT UPDATE: His surgery to make him pee failed. HE is back in a catheter and not feeling good at all. HE is either swollen from the catheter or the operation OR he has an obstruction in his urethrater. IF he has an obstruction he has to have more surgery to make him pee where a dog's penis is and not under his tail like Cats are supposed to.

PROBLEM is the new surgery may make him incontinent so he has to be Euthanized.

PLEASE PRAY to God to cure him and not have him have to be put down! He is the JOY of our lives and only a baby at 6 years old. I am so heartsick I want to die!

PLEASE Pray to GOD To CURE HIM.
The following is from yesterday:
PLlEASE continue to Pray for my baby! He appears to be RE blocking and Vet is off to a party. PLEASE pray his bladder does not burst and Vet comes back in time to help him!

Prayer Request for Abandoned Feral Kittens

From Erica:
You helped me in praying for my dog to walk again and for me to help her in getting her better -she is back walking! so thank you!

Now I need a prayer for two kittens that were/are feral, the mom brought them to my yard and they were all hungry ,she was still nursing them at about 8 weeks old since i assume that was the only nutrition they were getting - i trapped and had them all fixed and worked on taming the kittens -one person wanted 2 of the kittens and had had cats before -we told her to let them get use to her by keeping them in their cages for awhile more so they dont get scared - she let them out after a few days feeling bad they were in the cages, they ran and hid in her couch and wouldn't come out-after a few weeks she decided she didn't want them anymore and took them about 3 towns over and dumped them by a no kill animal shelter! she never told me ,iam still feeding the mom and had her spayed, i would have at least told her to let them loose back around here where they were use to and i could feed them! -every day iam sick knowing they are somewhere they are not use to ,they are 3 months old and fixed -all i do is pray each day they can make their way back here so i can feed them and not have them starving or hurt so please pray this kittens stay healthy and can in time find their way home.

thank you

Urgent Prayer Request for Oby the Dog

From Sandra:
Please would you pray for my Black Russian Terrier Oby..he has been diagnosed with a heart condition that requires £175 per month worth or medication and I have nothing! He is and has been my constant companion for over two years. We are together all the time and this is like cutting my heart out. I feel for him so much as he is very ill. I took him on as a rescue dog and love him beyond words. I can't bear to see him so ill and me so pwerless. THERE IS ONLY GOD that can help us and bless you for your kindness.

Please let me know you are praying for Oby. The vet said I could leave him there and they will put him to sleep but a little voice inside me said "NO.TAKE HIM HOME AND KEEP YOUR FAITH."

Prayer Request for Max the Cat

From Carolyn :
Our cat Max got out of the house Sunday morning and we have not seen him since. he is a 2 1/2 y.o neutered male we adopted from out Vet 2 years ago along with his sister. He is usually an indoor cat with little extensive outdoor experience.

We live in a heavily wooded area with many patches of woods and needless to say coyotes, raccoons and foxes. He was last seen on Monday by a gas station attendant but then went back into the woods. We have distributed 200 fliers, sent out a mass email with his flier, put his picture and information in the local papers, the online paper, local businesses and vet. offices along with the canine control officer, local police dept., school bus company, shelter and emergency clinics.

Tomorrow I will go to the post office and ask them to post his flier in the break room for all the letter carriers to see so they too can keep a look out. I have been putting tuna outside for 2 days now and frequently call for him and in the woods. I feel I have done all that is humanly possible to get our beloved Max back.

I am glad to find this web site as I will now add a daily prayer. I am asking for all of your prayers that he and the countless other lost cats find their way back to their loving families and that their journey be a safe one. Max needs to be home with the family that loves him, his sister, the rabbit, the dog, the fish and the lizard. Yes we love animals......and are devastated that he is lost. Peace be with all of you.

Sad News on Sierra the Cat

From Kristina:
After six additional happy months with our sweet cat, Sierra, she passed away early this morning. My husband and I are heartbroken that she is gone and will miss her immensely. Your site has been a source of comfort to me through this time and I continue to pray for all the other pets that are missing or ill. Despite the anguish we feel when they are no longer with us; surely, God is glad that we have shared our love and companionship with his animals.

Thank you again, God Bless You!
Please keep Kristina and her husband in your prayers as they suffer the loss of their beloved pet. Thanks to all of you for your prayers for Sierra.
