Urgent Prayer Request for Idea the Dog

"Idea"
From Manoo:
Idea, she is my 13 and a half years old dog. She had little bleeding on Sunday afternoon from one of her mammary glands. i took her to the vet yesterday morning & he said its tumor which can either be benign or malignant. He prescribed some anti biotics that I will give her 2 times a day for 5 days. And after that we again need to take her to the vet. He also told us to observe the condition as to how fast its growing and accordingly it will be treated. He might operate it. He said this will grow slowly but my dog is very uneasy.

My idea is sad and I saw little watery oozing with a little blood in it last night.

Idea had a major surgery for pyometra in Oct 2009 and her uterus was removed & after that she ha been doing fine. It was detected almost in the last stage. Another healing prayer group saved my Idea that time. I dont want to see her in pain or in a worse condition. Please pray so that the tumor is not malignant gets cured & that its does not spread in her body.

Also, she has arthritis & difficulty getting up, walking though she still is able to run & jump. She is very active inwardly & that shows in her actions too. Please pray for her so that she is free from this tumor & its ill effects and does not suffer.

Many thanks in advance,

He had come back and I have been feeding him and trying to get him. He is an older cat and was/is in bad shape. He stopped coming around about three days ago and I am very worried. I named him Rocky. I am asking for prayers to bring him back safely and soon. He needs medical attention.

Urgent Prayer Request for Staffy Jax the Dog

From the comment section:
Can you please pray for our Staffy Jax D'Amato. We took him to the vet last Saturday and they asked us to leave him over night with them. He has now been there for 7 days as none of the medicine they are trying seems to be working. If he doesn't get better by tomorrow we have been told there is no other option but to put him down. Can you please pray that his bladder works so he is able to go on his own and also that we can bring him home with us tomorrow. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you

Special Prayer Request for Beauregard the Dog and Monica

"Beauregard"
From Monica:
Hi Everyone

Yes, we have done it again.

As you all know last week was very painful due to death of my young cousin.

As if that wasn't painful enough, the dog lover Melgoza family went into full gear and rescued another dog who was slowly dying.

After a midnight ER visit, multiple days in the hospital, looking for rescue groups to help me pay for his operation and finally meeting a wonderful ortho surgeon who told me his fracture would heal on his own, this sad phase, I hope, is really over.

When we first met him, he was outside in the rain covered in blood with knots all over his body and limping due to injury in front, right leg. He had been attacked by another dog and really just left for dead. I heard my aunt gave him Tylenol. They wanted to take him to the park to die or for someone to pick him up. Disgusting. So we took him and don't ever plan to give him back (he is not registered to the family).

Every doctor who has met him mention what a "sweet little guy" he is, who would make the ideal pet.

We are not sure if we are going to keep him in the long run.

The above pictures show how tough the little guy has it now.

Beauregard is a gem.

Thank you for listening,

Prayer Request for Bella Bu the Dog

"Bella Bu"
From my friend Taylor:
I keep forgetting to ask you to pray for my sister's dog Bella Bu. She is a three year old Goberian (Golden Retriever/Siberian Husky) who has torn the ACL in her right back leg. My sister Carol has opted to try acupuncture, physical therapy and hydrotherapy before surgery.

The attached photo is of Bella in the hydrotherapy tank. She's such a good girl, never complains and always has a smile on her face. Her eyes can't hide how frightened she is, though.

Thanks so much,

Updated Prayer Request - Lucky the Horse

From Sushiboofay:
Thank you so much for your prayers. Our self-treatment of our horse's ear didn't do any further damage (although I did have an almost sleepless night worrying about it). Our vet was able to give us a treatment plan without having to come out and see him. Things seem to be improving, but if it's not just about completely healed by the end of the week - we are suppose to call back and the vet may actually have to come out (then we will have the money problem again :( ). Your continued prayers for a full recovery are deeply appreciated!

Urgent Prayer Request for Diamond the Cat

From the comment section:
Our baby, Diamond, has developed a tumor on his paw. He is an older cat and it is taking him over quickly. We pray that we are able to keep him as comfortable as possible and that he does not suffer. If he must leave us, we pray that he goes peacefully. He is a wonderful cat, a beautiful white persian so full of love, our hearts are heavy.

Urgent Prayer Request for Bailey Boy the Dog

From Cynde:
Please pray for my 7 year old Cocker Spaniel, Bailey Boy, who is undergoing treatment to return liver function. We returned from our honeymoon to find a very sick dog, rushed him the to hospital where he is being treated. We have had Bailey since he was 8 weeks old, and has been the glue to unite both my husband and I. We need as many people praying for a recovery to a quality life as he is our first born. I am unable to have children, so Bailey is our "fur" baby.

Thank You!

'Can you pray for my sick dog?'

I was in our parish church in Dublin this afternoon praying when I saw a young man of about 19 come in, kneel in the front pew for a couple of minutess, light a candle in front of the latar of the Blessed Virgin and then leave. I was thinking that it was a hopeful sign to see a young person do this. Indeed, yesterday at Sunday Mass, while the congregation at the Mass at 11am wasn't great, there were some young people present.
You can read the rest of Father Seán Coyle's post here. BTW, please keep Sam in your prayers...and his young owner.

Urgent Prayer Request for Lucky the Dog

Good News - Jundi the Cat

From Brittany:
My cat Jundi, who has been missing in another state for 14 weeks, will be coming home tomorrow! I just received this picture of her from West Virginia. I cannot tell you how much comfort and hope your website provided me during this time. Thank you to all who prayed, and I will continue to pray for your pets always!

Urgent Prayer Request for Lucky the Horse

From Cat: Please add our horse Lucky to your prayer list. Lucky has an ear infection and tonight we stupidly attempted to self-treat it with an antibiotic for sores and infections. I have sense learned that this particular antibiotic can drip down into the ear and cause the eardrum to burst. We will not be able to do anything else about this until in the morning and I am scared to death that we have really messed up.

Meanwhile, we have no money to pay the vet right now. Please pray that not only will our horse be okay, but that the vet will work with us to let us repay him.

Thanks so much.

Update on Atticus the Dog

From Stephanie: Thank you for the prayers offered for Atticus. He is recovering and we are hopeful he will be back to his old self soon. Prayer is powerful and we appreciate the prayers said for him.

Another Update on Daisy the Cat

From Mike:

Feast of Saint Martín de Porres

Holy Card from Peru belonging to my father

The virtue of humility defines a great saint. In that respect, one of the Catholic Church's greatest saints has to be Saint Martín of Porres or as he is affectionately known in Peru as San Martincito de Porres.

He was born in Peru the illegitimate son of a Spanish officer and a black woman from Panama. Because of the class status which was very important at the time, his father could not or would not acknowledge Martín or his sister as his own children. It was very sad that this loving little boy was not shown the love of his earthly father.  His father did love them but could not openly show any affection or love for his children.  His mother on the contrary, loved both her children. Because of the circumstances surrounding her love her the children's father, life could not have been easy for her or her little family. Yet it was because of her that her son Martin grew to know and love God very much.

By know everyone should know the story of how he grew up and wanted to serve God. He was apprenticed as a barber which was comparable to being assistant to a doctor. He also wanted to serve God by entering the Dominican order.  He thought himself unworthy to become a priest.  Instead, he wanted the most humblest job in the monastery. He requested the habit of a "donado" who were ranked lower than the lay brothers. He was only 15 or 16 years of age.
"In itself, humility is a hidden virtue which escapes our perception. It exists in the depths of the souls, and no one can say with certainty if it is truly there or not, because no created eye can penetrate to those depths. But when humility exists in the soul, it has a companion which serves as an indication of its presence: patience, which holds the field for humility without avoiding assaults, but rejoices int eh battle and 'through suffering, wins.'"

Holy cards usually depict Saint Martín de Porres holding a broom and surrounded by animals, usually a dog, a cat, and mice. The broom symbolizes his humility.  The animals symbolize how he was able to communicate with them and how they listened to his gentle way of talking to them.  He was able to rid the monastery of a mice infestation that way.  He accepted the lowest tasks in the monastery one of which was to sweep the floors of the entire place. He also continued to use the medical knowledge he learned as a barber's apprentice to heal people.

People grew to love and respect him because of his kindness towards all and his generous and helpful spirit. But not everyone felt like that. There were a few who treated him badly and called him vicious names. One such person was a novice named Francis in the same order as Martín. He called Martín "a mulatto dog, a hypocrite, a cheat" and this all happened as Martín was tending to him. Instead of becoming angry or indignant...or even stop helping this brother, Martín patiently continued to tend to Francis. Martín was actually grateful to the brother for treating him like that.

Later it was brought to the novice master's attention how Francis had treated Martín.  Martín asked the Novice master to forgive the young novice because "he Martín was really a great sinner, and his mother was a poor Negress, and therefore the title of 'mulatto dog' fitted him perfectly. Why punish someone who had spoken only the absolute truth? Francis did not deserve punishment, but a reward."

Even after being forgiven because of Martín, Francis continue to make life hard for Martín who always responded in a patient and loving manner. Inevitably, Francis' eyes were opened and he began to watch Martín closely.  He also began to follow Martín example in imitating the saint's holy life. Martín had won him over with patience and humility.

God has given us many saints like Saint Martín de Porres whose feast we celebrate today, for us to imitate. Let us thank God today for St. Martín, a gentle and true humble brother who became a great saint by loving God and his neighbor.

Prayer Request for Stretch (aka Pretty Girl) the cat

From Jim and Ep:
PRAYER FOR STRETCH

Eternal Father, we bring you our grief in the loss of Stretch and
ask for courage to bear it. We bring you our thanks for Stretch
who lived among us and gave us freely of her love. We commit
our friend and companion Stretch into your loving hands. Give
us eyes to see how your love embraces all creatures and every
living thing speaks to us of your love. Amen.

We the family and friends of Stretch (aka Pretty Girl) gathered for a memorial service last Sunday, October 23rd.

At 3pm we lit some incense on a table adorned by her framed picture (and the urn with her ashes), next to a vase filled with fresh white long-stemmed roses brought by a friend. Those of us who wanted to told stories about her and our favorite memories with dear Stretch. We started with how Stretch (and her "half-sister") came to be my feline companion and friend, then upon marriage how they both were adopted as our feline daughter/s!

We all talked and were teary-eyed over the wonderful stories of Stretch! Then, each one of us read a line from "The Rainbow Bridge".....

".....When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
......They play all day with each other.

.....When you and your special friend meet,
you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again.
You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then, you cross
the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated."
(Unknown Author)

Thank you everyone for your prayers and kind words. Today, on the Feast of All Soul's we lovingly remember Stretch's passing (exactly one month ago).

Urgent Prayer Request for Bonito the Dog

From Monica:
Your page has been such a blessing to my doggies.

If I can please bug you to add Bonito to your list.

He was left for dead after being bitten by dog. I rescued him about three days later. He was going to be taken to park to die. I ended up having to take him to ER/hospital for over four days due to high fever, infection, wounds. He has a fractured shoulder blade which needs ortho surgeon. If Sts. Can join me in begging God to open doors for me to some how save his leg. I am looking for nonprofits to help me pay for part of surgery.

He is such a sweetie. He has been through so very much.

Good News - Sophie the Dog

From Karen:
Although it took a lot of patience, all our prayers for intercession of St. Jude and St. Rita have been answered.

I have a wonderful update on Sophie. She was returned to us on Sunday around noontime and just received a clean bill of health from our longtime vet, Dr. Gates. He thought she had been fairly well taken care of felt that after a few more days she will be fully integrated back into the family.

We are so excited to have her home with her family again. As soon as she saw me she began running little circles and then jumped up in my lap and would not leave me until it was bedtime for my son. Work has me on the road for the rest of the week, but she is glued to my husband when I am not home so she is good until I get back.

As it should be, I have transitioned into prayers of thanksgiving and want to make sure to thank you and all your prayer warriors for the great support and comfort I have received through your site. I truly believe that without this great circle I would have lost hope and faith and not pursued this far enough to get Sophie home.

I will send you pictures of Sophie with my son at bedtime story on Sunday when I get back from this trip.

Thank you again and again for your great site and friendship.
