From Georgette:
Please pray that my cat Chaios comes home he has been missing for 5 days and we miss him and want him home

Prayer Request for Bob the Cat

From the comments section:
Bob showed up at my home 6 wks ago. His owner lives not far from here (so Bob is familiar with this area) but would not keep him inside. We had freezing temps and I would put him a spare room @ night. I was afraid my cats would not accept him. We became very bonded as I searched for a good home for him (I have 6 cats & 2 dogs. All indoor pets). I found someone that wanted Bob and agreed to keep him indoors. Bob went to his new home approx 15 miles away on February 17th and managed to get outside on the 19th. Last seen on the 21st.I have posted signs and announced him missing on our local live radio station. Bob is approx 1yr old, tame, friendly and smart. If Bob would try to travel back to me his main obstacles are a county highway and Interstate Hwy to cross. I have been praying he find his way back here and have had very strong dreams that he does. Please pray the close bond we formed will allow Bob to come here and have a home with us for life. Thank you

Urgent Prayer Request fror Chloe the Dog

Urgent Prayer Request for Spike the Parrotlet and Rocky

From the owner:
Please say a prayer for our little parrotlet, Spike who was rushed to the vet today as he was found very sick in his cage last night. The vet said he was very weak and only gave him a 50/50 chance of survival. Apparently he was eating but his food, etc. was not being absorbed by his body, making him extremely underweight and dehydrated. The next 48 hours are critical as the vet is trying to stabilize him and hand feed him so that he will be strong enough to take antibiotics and meds. Spike has a bonded companion, Rocky who is very lonely and confused as to why Spike is not in his home cage tonite. Please also pray that Rocky does not come down with anything – to lose one, much less both, would be devastating. Please St. Anthony, watch over them and protect them during these next critical days and if it’s God’s will, please return Spike to a healthy state. In your name we pray….Amen.

St. Anthony's Bread & A Message of Thanks to Sts. Francis and Anthony for Cubbie the Dog

From Patricia: Thank you Sts. Francis and Anthony,

I prayed for your help to keep “Cubbie” safe and a nice man found her while trying to find our son. Someone “moved” the lost sign where this nice gentleman could see it as our son swears he didn’t post in that area. Cubbie was lost 2-19-2011 when the front door blew open from a storm, and our son got him back 2-23-11. Thank you, thank you, Sts. Francis and Anthony.

Source of picture and information Catholic Home and Garden.

BTW, for those of you who would like a way of thanking St. Anthony for finding your lost pet, please consider making a St. Anthony's Bread contribution.

Saint Anthony of Padua is also known as the Wonder Working Saint. Following the tradition of the Franciscans, this Saint served the poor and in thanks for favors granted, many take part in the tradition known as St. Anthony's Bread - donations given to buy bread for the poor. Today blessed bread is sold to help the poor and a small piece is saved as a sacramental to keep in times of illness or danger. Saint Anthony had a vision of the Infant Jesus and is often shown holding Him. He is the Patron Saint of things that are lost and Catholics often write + SAG on letters - Saint Anthony Guide.

Update on Princess the Dog

From Angelo:
Just want to update you guys, that my princess is already home, we are now doing home medication for her, all wounds healed up, but we still have to visit the vet after a week to have a blood test to check her kidney function and blood counts. it's her 7th day after she was release from the clinic. It's a good news for us that she recover from the surgery, but we still keep on praying for her full recovery.

Thank you for including my beloved princess to you prayer.

Urgent Prayer Request for Maggie the Dog

From Gregory:
Can you please say a prayer for our special dog Maggie. She is a gentle and loving, 9 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. She developed a fast-growing mast cell tumor in her stomach. She has been on steroids for a week and it has reduced substantially. The doctors say it needs to be reduced more to remove it. She is a strong girl. I know she can beat this. So far she has shown no symptoms. Please pray that it continues to shrink and that the doctors have the wisdom to give her the right care. She has brought so much love into our home and has helped me get through many difficult times in my life. I hope and pray I can do the same for her.

and...
Thank you so much. It has been quite an emotional ride. The first biopsy came back negative. We were so relieved. Then when I brought
her to a vet hospital to have the tumor removed, their biopsy showed it was cancer. And the surgeon said she would only live a week. So if she lives to Friday, she is already a medical miracle. Naturally we will get more opinions.

Thanks for the prayer. We are realistic people but if you saw Maggie you would agree with us. She does not plan on departing us.

How to Trace Your Lost Pet

There are some people who believe that there are worse things in the world than losing a pet, but they’re the folks who’ve never experienced the joy of having one. A pet is more than just an animal that lives in your home; it’s a family member, one who must be cared for and loved as much as your children. So when it goes missing, the feeling is akin to losing a loved one. If you’ve lost your pet and are wondering what to do to optimize your chances of getting them back, here are the options available:

- Start the search as early as possible.

- Call to your pet and ask neighbors and bystanders if they have seen your animal.

- Give their description as accurately as you can.

- Check all nooks and corners in your home – your pet could be hiding somewhere after bring frightened by something or someone, or he could be hurt and unable to move. You could so easily lose sight of them, especially if they’re small and can fit in tiny nooks and crannies.

- Get flyers ready as soon as possible and hand them around or put them up where they’re easily visible to passers by – keep the information on the flyers down to a minimum; a photo of your pet and a number to call if he’s spotted or found is enough.

- Visit animal shelters in your vicinity instead of just calling them to see if your pet has been brought there; you may be able to identify your pet even if he is dirty and disheveled and nothing like the description you provide or the flier you circulate.

- Check with government agencies that are responsible for picking up strays, especially if your pet does not have any form of formal identification like a collar or a tag.

- Visit shelters and other holding locations for stray animals every few days to see if your animal has turned up.

- Call highway departments and check with shelters for animals that have been reported dead – it’s hard to stomach the fact that your pet is no more, but this way, you at least get closure and can grieve your pet before moving on.

- It’s hard to search for and find birds and smaller animals like hamsters and gerbils because they can hide in many places and are not easily identifiable, unless of course your pet is a bird that is colorful and exotic. Also, cats and dogs tend to find their way home if they’re able to, so you need to accept the fact that they could be hurt and also prepare for the worst if the days go by and you don’t find any sign of your pet.

- Some pets turn up even after days of being missing with no sign of them; others turn up dead; and yet others remain a mystery forever. If your pet is missing, do all you can to find him; but at the same time, prepare for the worst and move on with your life.

Prayer Request for a Starved Cat

From Joan:
I'm not sure why God keeps sending me cats in need. Within the past 4 years, after my cat Tailblazer died, 2 strays have adopted me (one feral, grey female & one tan male). They are now plump outdoor cats with an igloo shelter. February 9, 2011 I opened my door and a skinny long hair grey cat walked right in my house, crying for help. I took her to the vet. No microchip or collar, although the collar could have fallen off. She purrs when picked up and obviously had a good home before her suffering started. My vet thinks she might have been accidentally locked up somewhere and water ran through a crack or door (for months). She is a young adult (teeth are not worn, but rear teeth have some plaque, indicating she was fed soft food at one time). She weighed only 3.5 pounds. Step by step he tested her. Feline leukemia. Fecal sample. Both negative. Heart, liver and kidney function tests are normal. Blood smear for cancer was negative. CBC was all normal, except her white blood cell count was twice what it should be. Her hair is even somewhat shiney. Cleaned her ears. No mites. Gave her two different antibiotic shots and sent her home with a 3rd antibiotic to be given twice daily. He also hydrated her subcutaneously because she was dehydrated. Eyes have no discharge, although the nictitating membrane covers the corner of her eye at times, esp. in the evening when she's tired. No vomiting. However, runny diarrhea and everything goes right through her quickly. I'm feeding Purina EN canned cat food, special food for her intestines. After 5 days she still is diarrhetic, although it's now like gravy instead of runny like water. My vet says she has NO fat and No muscle left. He's older and very experienced and has only seen 2 other cats this starved in his lifetime and they were dying. She can walk around and jump up to bench level. She wants to jump to counter height but knows it's too high for her right now. She follows me around the house when at liberty and purrs whenever she's touched, held, petted. The entire vet's office was amazed at her wonderful personality.

My vet said she either has an infection or lymphoma. We're treating her for infection obviously and hoping for the best.
I put a 4' x 4' x 4' exercise pen in the entry/hallway of my house, with newspapers on the floor, a big bowl of fresh water in one corner, a litter box in another corner, a bed on a heating pad in the third corner and the 4th corner is for her food dish. I hung a feathery toy from the center that hangs down to the floor and gave her a ball and another toy in case she ever wants to play (not so far). I have a stuffed bear I use behind my neck when I sleep and I gave her that to sleep with. She uses it for a pillow or lies against it. It probably has my scent on it. My 15 year old female Jack Russell Terrier is curious and gentle with her, but right now avoids her (she probably smells ill). I made her a sweater out of one of my husband's socks; the navy blue ribbing folds down into a t-neck and the black/white pinstripe sock is cut out for her front legs to go through; I cut it off at her hips. My neighbor serged the edges of it because it was fraying from when she grooms herself. It hugs her body to keep her warm and let's her feel hugged, but it's not too tight. I pick her up and hold her often when home and talk to her. At first I called her Smokey, then Grace, then Mercy, then Viva, now Flora (the Greek goddess of flowers which I love and when I garden my other cats follow me all the time). In fact my cats follow me when I go to the mailbox down the street and when I walk over to neighbors, then wait for me and walk back with me -- very unusual behavior for cats. Other cats in the neighborhood visit me when I'm outside; one of my neighbors thinks the other cats told this sweet, little cat to come to my house. Another neighbor says I'm like an underground railroad for animals, since I've picked up many lost dogs and returned them to their owners.

This little cat needs prayers for her recovery, which will take some time. She definitely has the will to live and the personality to charm anyone. I've posted her on a number of online lost/found pet sites and also am running an ad in the local newspaper. Her food and vet care has been very costly but my vet gave me a 20% discount on all the diagnostics. Last night I added FortiFlora to her food, which helps the probiotics in her intestines, which is why her name now is Flora.

Those of you who have lost cats, have hope that someone has taken in your cat and is giving it good care and lots of love, even though they don't know how to find the owner. Something happened and it's hard not to know what, but this cat is surviving against all the odds and is grateful for the care and love she is receiving. I'm hopeful that she will gain weight and survive and have a good, long life - even though I was not wanting another cat. By the time she's healthy, I probably won't want to try to find another home to adopt her, but if her true owners appear and she wants to go to them, how could I stand in her way. I want what is best for her and I hope your lost cats have also found someone to care for them. I hope you will adopt one of the cats at the humane society or cat shelter who need a good home. Friends who have extra collars, harness, big litter box are going to look for them to donate to this cat, to save me the added cost of buying those items. I want a harness for her so I can take her on walks in nice weather once she is back to normal weight/health. She is a little miracle because my vet doesn't know how she even has energy to walk. Oh, she runs to me when I call "kitty, kitty", too, if she's exploring my house, probably looking for more food. I'm sorry you are separated from your cats. I had 2 dogs stolen years ago and that was very hard; I didn't stop looking for them until they would have been so old they couldn't possibly be alive anymore. Cats can apparently live a long time without any food. Fortunately this one hadn't started living off her organs, which would have been her next fatal stage in starvation. She's an inspiration for life.

Prayer Request for Kodi and Dixie the Dogs

From Randy:
Kodi and Dixie dug under the fence on Feb. 2 and we haven't seen them since. There was a sighting yesterday (2/13) but by the time we got to where they saw them they weren't there. It's been almost two weeks since they "ran away from home" and our family really misses them both. They are both rescue dogs and pray that St. Anthony will return them both soon.

Recent Update on Clifford the Dog

From Vicky:
Update on Clifford. Thank you for posting my prayer requests.

I ended up taking Clifford to see a specialist after repeated efforts to find the cause to no avail. After some more biopsies were done, Clifford was diagnosed with Erythemia Multiforme. I think it is rare and it's a reaction causing his body to attack (or be allergic to) his own skin. The specialist thinks that it is drug induced and that it is possibly caused from his vaccinations, but it could be anything really. It can be difficult to treat because without knowing the "trigger" it can keep the disease active.

Clifford is now on some seriously strong meds for 3 weeks now, and so far is showing decent improvement. I know that your prayers have helped. We still have a long, long road ahead. He can't stay on the high doses of the medications he is on. We go back in a couple of weeks and they will run some bloodwork and adjust the meds. Can you please still request some prayers that when the medications get reduced that the condition doesn't start again? Please pray that they can find the cause and keep it under control so Clifford can have a better quality of life.

Thank you-

Good News - Katie the Dog

From Lisa:
Thank you so much for your prayers! I am happy to report that my husband received Katie back around 6:15 pm this evening! Again, although I am not Catholic, I have been talking to St. Francis and St. Anthony along with direct prayers to the Father and Jesus. I know that God answers all prayers...and not always the way that our hearts desire, but I am feeling so truly blessed at this moment. Thank you so much!!!!

With God's Love,

Urgent Prayer Request for Trinity the Cat

From Sondra:
am so glad to have found your blog and your happy ending with Honey is giving me much needed hope.

My cat Trinity has been missing since the first week of December. My mother was caring for her in another city while I was ill and she got out and became lost. Worse, my mother just told me about her disappearance last week! She's been gone all this time and she never told me. I am heartbroken and devastated. I'm not sure I'll be able to completely recover without her.

I believe in the power of prayer and I know the Lord works miracles each and every day--and I desperately need a miracle. Please pray the Lord will keep Trinity safe and well and bring her home to me just as Honey was returned to you. Thank you for your prayers.

Sincerely,

Prayer Request for Katie the Dog

From Lisa:
I am not Catholic, but I am a Christian. My husband and I lost our 4 month old yellow lab yesterday. She ran away from him in the center of our small town. We have searched for her all over the town, and my husband feels very responsible. Would you please pray for us to find Katie? I miss her so much, even though I have 4 other dogs. They are my children and give unconditional love just as Jesus does.

Thanks,
NOTE: We pray for all the pets in need, regardless of their owner's beliefs. We do ask our heavenly friends, the patron saints of animals, to intercede for them.

All prayer requests are welcomed! All sincere prayers for our pets are humbly acknowledged and appreciated.

Sad News - Noel the Bunny

From Steve:
I wanted to thank you for getting out prayers for my bunny Noel. Sadly, and it breaks my heart, she died in my arms about 20 minutes ago. She was gasping for air and running around the pen in a panic. I picked her up, held her, and prayed for some type of miracle, but the one I asked for didn't happen. I know she's in a better place, but it still doesn't take away the pain I feel right now.
Please keep Steve in your prayers as he mourns the loss of his beloved pet.

Urgent Prayer Request for Noel the Bunny

From Steve:
Please pray for my little bunny, Noel. She has tumors around her lungs that make it difficult to breath. The rabbit vet said it would be best to put her down. I don't want to be selfish, and that's what people say. They say I'm allowing her to suffer for my selfish feelings. I want her to be well. She did nothing to anyone. She needs to live and I've prayed so hard for some miracle to occur. My wife has scheduled a trip to the vet tomorrow to do what I dread.
Please help me

She left the following comment:
It is very timely that i came across this blog. The idea of cats having a patron saint crossed my mind, maybe I was in search for something that could ease my heart. You see my dear little kitten Psyche passed away this morning due to a fever. Now I am grieving and left with regret because I wasn't able to do what I should have done right away. I feel terribly sorry for him and myself. May you please pray for his dear soul.Thank you and God bless.

Urgent Prayer Request for Whitey the Cat

From Candy:
Now is a very hard time for my family because our beloved cat Whitey, who has been suffering from kidney disease since 2007, is in bad condition right now. Although he has kidney disease, we have managed to keep him healthy for years, with regular check up and proper diet. Right now, his condition has worsened and my mom force feeds him everyday because he no longer wants to eat on his own. He also undergoes dialysis everyday here at home (the vet taught my mother how to) and takes several medications that make him groggy and weak.

I feel so depressed right now because I am uncertain if this time he will be able to recover. It's also so hard to see my family in pain as they see Whitey's condition right now. Whitey has been our baby for ten years now and we really love him so much, just like how we love all of our cats and all of God's animals. I pray to God and ask Him to heal Whitey if it is His will...and I hope He takes away all his pain and suffering.

I found your blog while surfing for prayers for pets. Your blog is a blessing and comfort to animal lovers like us who share our love and prayers for our beloved pets. I hope you can include Whitey in your prayers. Thank you so much and may God bless you for all the good things you do...
