Dear Friends:
My dog AJ has been throwing up bile and she has had a few accidents in the house with soft stools (sorry to be graphic). I think it was something she ate. I have had her fasting from food for almost 24 hours. Please keep her in your prayers and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Mahalo!
Dear Lord, please watch over AJ, a much loved and sick dog; heal AJ please, calm his bowels and stomach and return him to wellness. Thank You, Lord.

After the 24 hour fast (he can still have water during that time) you re-introduce his food BUT you only give him about 1/4 of his normal meal. You wait a few hours and then give another 1/4. Continue doing so for the rest of the day.
On the following day you can start to feed him his regular sized meals.
If at any point the diarrhea does not stop, or stops and comes back again, then you take him to the Vet. If he continues to vomit you take him to the Vet. If he seems sick in any other way (stops playing, is lethargic etc) you take him to the Vet.
Only follow the schedule above if he is doing ok and the diarrhea has stopped.
Some dogs may need to go 2 or 3 days on the small meals before going back to their regular feeding schedule.
Boiled chicken and rice...

ReplyDeleteOh, thank you too! I tried giving her only a bit of her dry dog food but she won't eat it. I gave her a bit of cheese just to see if is hungry and she ate that. She was pretty snippy with the other dogs today and usually is is Miss Congeniality.
ReplyDeleteHi Esther . . . . . Blessings to you and AJ!! So sorry - I have very little experience with upset doggie tummies, but can help for sure with the prayers and so am certainly sending lots of prayers for you and AJ!!
ReplyDeleteMay St. Francis, Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, St. Jude, and St. Roch lay their healing hands upon AJ, comfort her, and help that tummy feel better soon!
Thinking of you!!
Thanks so much Lou Ann! I think the prayers are working because she ate well last night and this morning. God bless you all abundantly!
ReplyDeleteThat is such good news and I trust the healing of AJ will continue! God Bless you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! God bless you too.
