Sasha is our 13 year old Husky. She has been with us since we picked her up from the pound in April 2001 when we fell in love with her curled up in a ball shaking because she was so scared. I have enjoyed almost 11 years of walking with her 3 miles a day 5 days a week. Although she has slowed down a bit she has always been eager to go for her walk. Mother's day weekend we took a camping trip and she over did it causing her to not be able to lift her tail because she was sore. Memorial weekend she strained her leg worse while visiting my in-laws. The next day we attempted a 3 mile walk and she lost her footing ans slipped off the curb. Since then she has been having trouble walking the three miles so we cut it down to 1 1/2 miles and eventually just around the block. The vet had given her a steroid to help with the inflammation and pain. Her last pill was this past Saturday the 9th. By Sunday night the 10th she was starting to have some mild pain again and last night, after laying in the sandbox, her favorite spot, for 3 hours she had trouble getting up the stairs. At about 1:30 this morning she tried to get up off the hardwood floor and it took her 1/2 and hours of trying before I was able to help her get up because she wanted lay next to our 5 year old son Joseph's bed - her spot since we set up the cradle before he was born as if she is protecting him. We haven't brought her into her vet yet as he is on vacation but we plan on it as soon as he returns but that isn't until June 30th. We are bringing her in to a different vet tonight to try to make her comfortable until the 30th. Please pray that we are able to keep her comfortable so a drastic decision does not have to be made until we can see the vet we trust.Thank you,

From Jeana:
Wow, what devoted guardians you are! She sounds like such a beautiful pup. Please know that I am praying for Sasha's comfort, good care from the vet and your peace. God bless all of you.

ReplyDeleteSasha was unable to get better. The Vet gave it one more try with something we han't tried yet but her health just deteriorated rapidly throughout the day. She is now waiting on the Rainbow Bridge. I feel like I gave up on her but she was crying most of the day and I was unable to comfort her any longer. She was not able to get up at all on her own and I couldn't bear to see her suffer any longer. Thank you everyone for your prayers, she was my baby girl and will forever be missed. It's going to be so hard getting through this.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, Jeana; you are so much in my thoughts and prayers; may the Good Lord comfort you.
ReplyDeleteDearest Jeana, my hugs, thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.
ReplyDeleteJeana, please be assured it is very clear that you did not give up on your Sasha, not at all. You did everything possible, dear lady, and you can be sure that your Sasha knows that.
These earthly goodbyes are so very very difficult, but yes, Jeana, your Sasha knows how much she was loved and cared for, and I believe with all my heart that she will remain with you and precious Joseph very fully in spirit. The angels carried her "home" and may Sasha know every joy of Heaven, but she is not gone, just on "the other side" and she will remain close to you in her own special way until yes you all are reunited again one day.
God Bless you for all the love and care you gave to Sasha. You must have many wonderful memories of all the special times spent with your precious girl, hold those close in your heart at this difficult time.
God Bless you, Sasha, Jeana's precious "Baby Girl", what a beautiful and special friend you will always be to your Jeana and little Joseph.
ReplyDeleteMay you know every joy of Heaven and perpetual light shine upon you. You are missed so very much honey and I know you will find a way to let Jeana know you are indeed "home" and whole again, and stay with her honey at this difficult time.
So sorry Jeana!
ReplyDeleteJeana, please know that I am keeping you, your family, and Sasha in my thoughts. I have had Siberain Huskies since I was 22 (more than half a lifetime ago). They are so very special. Thinking of you at this challenging time, Robyn
