"God looked at everything He had made, and He found it very good."

"Saint Francis of Assisi was named the patron saint of ecology in 1989 for good reason. We might say that Francis saw with the eyes of God. He saw that all of creation was good, very good. Francis treasured each part of the created world that he viewed-from lofty Mt. Subasio where Assisi nestles to the tiniest worm creeping along the dusty road never his hometown. Francis believed that ll creation was God's gift and was therefore to be treated as a treasure. In 'The Canticle of the Creatures" Francis praises God for all creation-the sun and the moon, the stars and the heavens, the wind and air, water and fire, flowers and fruits and herbs. Francis' heart overflowed with gratitude for all God's gifts.

Francis was following Jesus who also treasured creation to such extent tht he used creation images as the basis for explaining spiritual truths to those who flocked to him. He spoke of seeds and sheeps, figs and fields, pearls and plants, wheat and water. He spoke of these elements of creation to bring people closer to God."

We thank you for the gift that he/she has been to us.

A Pet Blessing Prayer
"Blessed are you, Lord God,by Friar Jack Wintz, O.F.M
Maker of all living creatures.
On the fifth and sixth days of creation,
you called forth fish in the sea,
birds in the air and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all animals
his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless these animals gathered about us.
By the power of your love,
enable these creatures—our sisters and brothers—to
live according to you plan.
May we always praise you for your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen."

St. Francis and the Birds
St. Francis has often been linked with birds and other creatures. Many of us are well acquainted with the statue of St. Francis on the birdbath and with the illustration of birds flying around the saint's head or standing on his shoulders. Such images inspire us to love the whole family of creation. We may also be familiar with St. Francis' Canticle of Brother Sun, in which Francis praises God through "Brother Sun" and "Sister Moon," through "Brother Wind" and "Sister Water," through "Brother Fire" and "Our Sister Mother Earth" and her "various fruits with colored flowers and herbs."
St. Francis loved the larks that flew so gracefully through the sky over Assisi, his hometown. Perhaps you have also heard stories of this brown-robed friar preaching to the birds, releasing Brother Rabbit from a trap or letting Sister Raven serve as his "alarm clock" to awaken him for early-morning prayer.
There are many of us human beings, moreover, who know what it's like to have, as companions, a beloved dog, cat, rabbit, gerbil, parrot or canary. There are others who may not have a pet, but who enjoy walking through the woods or along the seacoast where there are all kinds of creatures of land, air and sea to admire and to contemplate.
"Loving Creator, bless all your creatures—
human and non-human alike.
Instill in us a spirit like that of St. Francis
so that we, too, may show love, respect and care
to the whole family of creation. Amen."

To Live as Francis Lived
This is beautiful! Thanks for posting. Too often I meet Christians who, though they consider themselves devout, unfortunately don't extend their compassion to animals. This always makes me very sad, as animals are a gift from God, and are not just there for our benefit. It is our duty to make this world a more humane world for people and animals, and to have compassion towards all.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your beautiful post and illustrations.

ReplyDeleteOn New Years day we lost our 9 mos old Lab , Lola, to a tragic accident. She was a blessing that came into our lives during a time of challenge for our family. Little did we know when we got her that only 2 mos later our son would be diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. Her love was what kept us grounded during this challenging time we were to face. She provided each of us with unique support at the end of each day. Giving my son a bright spot to look forward to each day and also waiting for him when he would come home from hospital stays for chemo treatments. She was our inner glue. All to be taken tragically from us on a day of new beginnings. Jan 1st.
ReplyDeleteThe heartache is indescribable to any pet we've lost. I think because we didn't get to give her the life she so deserved. I feel I let her down by not protecting her. As day 3 of grieving continues so deep, I'm trying to find the answer of why she was taken , the one thing that brought us happiness during such a hard time for our family..... So I am seeking to find a deeper faith, a prayer... Anything to help ease this pain we each feel. It hurts so that it takes my breath with grief. Please help us through this to see some light.
I pray....
Liz
Dear Liz: We are very sorry for your loss. As pet owners, we know the pain the loss of a beloved pet causes. We are praying for you and your family. God bless, BTW, your prayer request has been posted.
ReplyDeleteDear friends,
ReplyDeletemy beloved little girl, Margaux, is slowly dying after being my heart fior over 18 yrs. I am truky broken and so afraid. I pray for the Lord's strength to do what I need to do for her comfort though it will kill me in the process. I don't know how I will cope with life without her but I will just have to try. She will be joined with her brothers and littermates when she reaches the Bridge. I pray one day I will see her and my beloved Winston (her brother) again and that our little family will be together again. I love you with my whole being, Margaux.

ReplyDeleteOne of our 11 year old yellow labs became seriously ill suddenly and unexpected on 5-2-14. Unfortunately for us to do what was best by her, we had to let her go on 5-3-14. We miss her terribly, and I never knew the pain of losing a pet could be so excruciating. Our kids aren't taking it well either. Please pray that we can heal from this tragedy and that we will be able to see Dodge again one day. Your info on St. Francis is soothing for the soul. We love you, Dodge!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss, Beth. We are praying for your family.

ReplyDeletePlease prayer for our sweet cat, Oscar (who is a girl, in spite of her name), who we must put to sleep tonight. Oscar was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive cancer and although we tried chemo, her blood cell number is very low. If we don't euthanisize her, her ending could be very painful. This is tearing our hearts out, especially, because she still does some of the things she used to do. Please pray for my husband, me, and dear Oscar as she makes her journey to our Heavenly Father. Thank you. Peg and Bob

ReplyDeletePlease pray for our beloved cat, Cleo. She is 21+ years old and on her final journey. We are making her as comfortable as we can, telling her how much she is loved and giving her permission to let go. This is the hardest thing we've ever had to do. We were hoping the time to go would be of her choosing but we may need to interfere as we would llike her suffering to end and for her to go peacefully. Please grant us the strength to cope with our decision. Your site has helped tremendously as our hearts are aching. God Bless.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for our beloved car, Cleo. She is 21+ years old and making her final journey. She has been very ill and is now very frail and weak. We have made her as comfortable as we possibly can, telling her how much she is loved and giving her permission to let go. We hoped the time to depart would be of her choosing but we may have to make that decision for her. This is the hardest thing we've ever had to do. Please grant us the strength to cope with this great loss un our lives. Your site has been a tremendous help to us. Thank you and God Bless.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers and thoughts are with you and Cleo. My beloved cat, Conor, is facing end stage liver cancer. He is just the sweetest, gentlest, most tender fellow. When I was ill and needed surgery, he never left my side once I was home. I would often wake up in pain, to find him purring at my side, gently stroking my face with his front paw. He is everything to me.
ReplyDeleteWe are also hoping to have him end his life on his own terms in his own home, surrounded by loved ones. But we don't know if he will become so uncomfortable that we will have to bring him to the vet. The vet thinks he isn't in pain, just uncomfortable from abdominal bloating. Please, those of you with loving hearts, please pray for my Conor.
Thank you for your time.
-Kerri
We are praying for Cleo and Conor, and all the other pets.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Yesterday, the vet came to our home and Cleo left us peacefully and surrounded by such love. Our hearts are aching but we are positive we made the right decision for her, giving her the gift of peace. Her spirit is all around us.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you and Conor. What I can tell you from our experience is this: the waiting is harder than the ending. Conor will tell you when it is time, just as Cleo told us. They are such strong and giving souls and far braver than we are.
Hugs and God Bless.
My deepest sympathy on the passing of your Cleo. I am very glad she was home with her loved ones. I know you must miss her very much,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. You were quite right. The waiting was the agony.
Conor's last day was lovely. He jumped up in the front bay window to bathe in the sun and people watch. He loved to watch the neighbors jog and bike and especially walk their dogs. He followed the family around the house to supervise their various goings-on. In the afternoon he retired to a bed pillow I had put out for him on the dining room floor, where he had the best view of activity in both the kitchen and the living room. We noticed him turn away from us and when we called his name he wouldn't pick up his head. He was the type of cat to always come when called. I went over to him and he let out two sad little meows that broke my heart. we immediately called his vet practice, his vet practice of over 11 years, the vet we had spent almost a thousand dollars at less than a week ago diagnosing him, and asked if we could come in to put him to sleep.
They told us no, sorry, they were fully booked for the rest of the afternoon! They were open for another hour plus, but would not take us, even when we pleaded. They directed us to an emergency hospital about 45 minutes away. ( his actual vet is a wonderful caring compassionate saint, but was not on duty that day, but still we were shocked by the treatment bythe rest of the staff. We had discussed what would happen if Conor needed to come in when she was off and she assured us he would be in good hands).
We called another vet office nearby, that we had never been to before, and they were so kind and considerate. They treated us and Conor so warmly. I will forever be grateful to them. The vet tech, the vet, and the woman at the desk all offered condolences and hugs after he passed away.
I'm sorry to ramble but just needed to get that off my chest. Please feel free to edit it severely if it's not appropriate. We never realized the his vet office would cause us so much grief in the midst of our trying to do right by him. I wish we had a vet around here who would make a house call.
Thank you so much for the wonderful site and everyone's kind thoughts and prayers,.
I hope Conor and Cleo are playing together by the rainbow bridge, along with everyone else's dear little friends.
I am glad you shared this with us. We are praying for you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless

ReplyDeletePlease pray for my beloved cat Emmett. 13 years ago on Christmas Eve, i was in a pet store when i saw a dirty little kitten with big ears in a cage that had a cardboard sign that read "Domestic kitten for sale. As is $39." It was heartbreaking. I took him home that night and he has been by my side for nearly 14 years. My big lovable boy has been battling diabetes for years. Unfortunately, he has been deteriorating over the last 6 months. I have been praying he would die in his sleep, but he keeps holding on. I had an appointment to have him euthanized this morning at 11 am, but couldnt do it. The vet has pushed back his appointment to 5:30 tonight. I am lying on the bathroom floor with my poor little boy now knowing these are his final hours. Please pray he wont be scared when i take him to the animal hospital, and that he knows how much i love him.
ReplyDeleteHow sad! Mary, we are praying.
ReplyDeleteI had to say goodbye to my bestfriend less than a week ago. Snookie was my furry child, a 12.5yo female shih tzu whom I lost to stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer. She fought through 2 bouts of breast cancer and almost 5 yrs of heart ailments. She was a fighter and held on until I was ready to let go. The clinic honored my wishes. I brought in a folding bed, laid us down, covered us in our blanket and hugged her tight as she was laid to rest. She went peacefully, in my loving arms... listening to my heartbeat, as I felt her last...
ReplyDeleteI have been feeling an enormous pain of guilt, even though I know deep down that it was for the best. I pray and pray and pray that she can forgive me. I'm so sorry Snookie, mommy loves you...
Very sorry for your loss. You are in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteI have my dog who is in deep suffering right now. He has been a very good friend to me. I ask you for prayer that he will recover back to his active and happy state. Thank you. :) His name is Blake.
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for Blake.
ReplyDeleteDear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, today, after months of trying my best to help a four month old baby girl kitten, she is on her final journey to join all pets who were loved so much by their humans. This is especially hard for me today, because over the course of these four months, "baby cat" was always very skittish and weary of allowing me to get close. In this last week however, I believe she needed me and allowed me to help her in the best possible way I could. Sadly, it just wasn't enough. She was infested with fleas, in which I know have caused other major ailments, as her tummy became very swollen. She is comfortable, I have her in a pet bed, and have been giving her tiny sips of water to keep her tongue moist. She meows, but there is no sound. My heart is broke. I have prayed over her and annoited her with Holy water. I pray that her pain and suffering is small, and she will be comforted as only God can do.
ReplyDeleteRose, we are praying. So sorry.

ReplyDeletePlease pray for my friend's furbaby. Sumo is fighting cancer and has been in a lot of pain. Recently Sumo has had surgery and is now at home recovering but is still looking down a long road. Hopefully this surgery will alleviate the pain and Sumo go back to living a carefree life with his loving parents!! Thank you....
Please pray for my beloved Toby...my baby, my friend, my protector. He has been so very brave, so generous, so strong! He was diagnosed with bone cancer and colon cancer leading to kidney failure 7 months ago and was told he wouldn't last 24 hours and I should euthanize right then and there. I declined. By the grace of God and with the help of homeopathy and Chinese medicine he thrived and had great quality of life until a few days ago. He has now let me know it is time. I am staying up all night and praying Father God will take him in his sleep. Otherwise, the vet is expecting us in the morning. Please pray for Toby's transition to be gentle and peaceful. He is a light warrior of the highest and the bravest! I love you my Toby. Please give my Dad a kiss from me when you see him. Love Mama

Hi Esther,
ReplyDeleteOur community of Pojoaque, NM lost a brave, loyal and joyful companion named Bubbah, a handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback who would come tearing down his driveway and run towards me wiggling all scooby doo with pure happiness that we were going to go for a walk along the Pojoaque river road. Shark Boy, a Scottish shepherd who lived a block before Bubbah's and Ernie's place would sound the alarm and in a matter of seconds, here would come Bubbah. Nothing could keep him from jumping down over the 10 ft. of rail-yard ties supporting his yard (once he figured out he could do it) or pawing apart the front gate just enough to allow him through.
Today he raced out and was distracted by other neighborhood dogs in the road who he would ward off so just the two of us could walk together (though he often let one or two tag along, begrudgingly). A mom with 2 children were driving the speed limit and hit him with their van. All of the elements conspired to take him from us this evening. I held him on the ground wrapped in my arms and on my legs to keep him still, he couldn't move his back legs and was bleeding from his mouth and back leg.
The lady with the van went up the driveway to get Ernie, who was so very sad to see his sweet friend in such pain and unable to move except for his powerful front paws. A neighbor came and offered to put him down for Ernie, it didn't seem like Bubbah could stay alive on the 28 mile trip to town and the after hours emergency pet clinic. I probably would have taken him if he was mine, but Ernie made the tough decision.
Please say a prayer for Ernie, Bubbah and Nacho who kindly offered to do what we could not. He died on the river's edge where he loved to walk when the water was low enough. I wish for many of my neighbors that the speed limit was lower and also that their dogs could be confined to their yards, but I see how they do try and the dogs think it is a game to get out and wind up playing in the road. I feel terrible that Bubbah was running to greet me, and that he was so protective that he wanted to head off the other dogs already in the road. Even though he allowed me to put him on his chain near his dishes and dog house each night after we walked (unless the other dogs followed us up to his house and Ernie wasn't home).
Bubbah had an abundance of happiness and his "do the twist" shuffle dance was infectious. I will always miss him and his valiant soul. Each time a certain questionable guy slowed down to talk to me, all of Bubbah's hackles on his ridge would go up, and stay up until he left, as compared to all the people who slowed to say how handsome he was.
If there is a doggie heaven, I'm sure Bubbah is there now- if there is such a thing as reincarnation, he'll be back as a kindly prince or king- or court jester, for how he could get people to laugh with his sheer enthusiasm.
'Miss you Bubbah, the most handsome boy!
Cori

ReplyDeletePlease pray for our dog Uma. She is our 9 year old German Shepherd rescue. She is so affectionate and just has been amazing. In the past week she wasn't feeling well and we took her to the vet thinking it was a flu. It turned out to be kidney failure. We had her at the vet and they were treating her but her kidney is beyond help. We brought her home yesterday and we are having someone come to our house today at 6:00 pm to euthanize her. We are soooo devastated. We can't imagine our lives without her. Please pray for our Uma. Thank you, Marisa
ReplyDeletePlease pray for my lovely husky Zora. She succumbed to her injuries of a hit and run car accident. She was a wonderful dog that really showed me how strong a bond can be between man and dog. She was a beautiful 35 pound husky that I found in a shelter searching for huskies to adopt. She had one eye she was blind in but I didn’t care about that and it never slowed her down. She had a beautiful white coat that was so soft to pet. She loved meeting other dogs the most and her favorite thing was to go to the dog park where she could run and play with the others. She also liked to chase my cat Frankie around the house. She was kind to him even though occasionally he would scratch her nose. She just wanted to play with him, and never harmed him in any way. She looked like a white fox when she ran because of her shape and the way she would do a little pounce when she ran. I found out she had heart worms shortly after adopting her which we had just completed the last part of the treatment for. She was still on exercise restriction and it was probably why she was so eager to run on Valentines day.
ReplyDeleteIt started out as any other Sunday but around noon I came home from running an errand and Zora was spinning around wanting to go outside. She always got that way when i returned home, whether I was gone an hour or all day at work. I opened the door and Zora took it as her cue to run free. By the time I put my shoes on she was out of sight, and by the time I doubled back to go the other way I heard the bang and her cries. It all happened within 5 minutes. I ran as fast as I could and found her in the ditch. When I was nursing Zora in the ditch she was in a lot of pain and she started to bite my fingers. I let her because I thought it would comfort her. After her teeth broke through my skin she eased up on her jaw. It just shows what kind of dog she was, that she would be in pain like that but not want to hurt me. A lady in a Jeep Wrangler was nice enough to stop and drive her back to my house, where my neighbor David took us to the pet ER.
The day after Zora was stabilized at the hospital I spoke with the surgeon. She suffered a broken pelvis but also severe nerve damage to her tail, rectum and urethra. Her anus had no muscle tension and was fully open. Even with surgery to repair her hip, her chances of regaining function in her ability to use the bathroom were slim. I reached out to friends who really came through for me, whether it was in person or over the phone, and every bit of empathy helped.
It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, but one I felt would be best for Zora. God can judge me if I was wrong. I thought I was tough but this has wrecked me. Thank you to everyone who helped me through this difficult time, and thanks to this site that provided me the wonderful prayer for her as she passed.
Now, Zora can see out of her blind eye and is cured of all heart worms and broken bones. She is free to run anywhere her little heart wants to now. May God comfort her and keep her forever young. Someday I’ll see her again.
May you find comfort in your memories of Zora and may God give you peace in understanding that you did the right thing for Zora to end her suffering and pain. That decision as most difficult it was came from your love for her and I for one believe you will certainly be reunited with her again one day. For now she runs free of all pain from this world and patiently waits for you at the Rainbow Bridge. RIP Zora
ReplyDeletePlease pray for my cat, Angus. He died on Friday. He became ill suddenly and when I took him to the vet they diagnosed him with an inoperable tumor in his stomach. He was in pain, so I let him go. I was with him, and as a Catholic, I prayed a "hail Mary" and blessed him in my own way. I miss him terribly as he was my sole companion during a very difficult time in my life. Life is much better and I have many things to look forward to and I hoped he would be here. He was only ten.
ReplyDeletePLEASE PRAY FOR OUR DARLING MALTESE DICKSON WHO WAS LAID TO REST YESTERDAY. MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED AND ADORED HIM ALL 9 YEARS AND WE HAD ME YET TO EXPLAIN TO OUR DARLING 4 YEAR OLD HOW DICKSON HAS PASSED. PLEASE PRAY FOR US X

ReplyDeletePlease pray for my sweet kitten Angel. He has been a bright spot in our family for over 17 years, and has recently been experiencing a rapid decline in health due to his kidney failure. I am having such a hard time with the thought of him passing, and now it has been decided that we will be putting him to sleep tomorrow evening to avoid anymore discomfort to him... i know that it is for the best, but i can't help but cry at the thought of him not here in his home. I have tried my best to make final stage of life as comfortable as possible, but my heart feels so conflicted about choosing to end his life... I want him to not be afraid, i want him to know how loved he is and i to know that this choice was made in the thought that it would be the best for him... please pray for us. Thank you
ReplyDeletePlease pray for our boxer Mia. She has been a very faithful and loving dog for the past 8 years. We just found out today that she doesn't have much more time with us . Her day and hours are short. Through the intercession of St. FRANCES please help our Mia out. Please pray for my husband who has been very broken hearted about this news. I pray God will give him strength to get through this struggle in life. It's very heart breaking to see the one's you love have deep suffering. I know that one day we will see Mia again and I know it's best that she shouldn't have to suffer. Please Lord help Mia and help her to not have to suffer more then she should. We love you Mia and our hearts break for you.
ReplyDeleteI am not selfish as I wanted them to put her to sleep, but as I watched the hurt in my husband I could not tell him no. So we decided to go ahead and bring her home for a few days. I hope it was the right choice but I don't like the suffering Mia has to be in . Please Lord and all that will be praying for Mia help her to not suffer more then she already has.
In Jesus Almighty Name Amen

Please pray for our dear pet, friend, and family member Ellie. Today we will make the hardest decision we have ever made. Ellie is an incredible 14 1/2 year old black lab. She and I have been therapy dog partners for a little over 6 years and she has spent countless days in my classroom positively impacting hundreds of students. I am devastated to lose her, but pray that her memory will live on forever in the people she touched, and with God's will, my family will find the healing necessary and that we may see her again one day. We love you so much Ellie!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your prayers for Ellie, our family, and for her dear friend Bandit who remains with us.

ReplyDeletePlease send prayers for Rosie, my little companion of nearly 17 years. She has congestive heart failure and has collapsed twice this week. Please pray that she might pass in her sleep in peace, and not be in pain or have to go back to the vet's office. I would consider it a beautiful ending for her, and a direct answer to prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone on this site, and prayers for all of you.
Pray for our little girl Kela who died on August 22nd, 2016 after 15 years, 8 months and 3 days of bringing joy and love into our lives. She was loved, she was my best friend, family and little girl, she is missed greatly. My heart is breaking and I hope someday we will be reunited in heaven. Lord please care for her until then.
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous-
ReplyDeleteMay you feel the peace and presence of Christ's love during this time of grief and loss of your precious Kela. Know she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is in a land of peace, joy and free from all pain. She is not alone and will wait for you til that glorious day when she will once again run to you. Prayers said for you during this difficult time. Peace to you.
Please pray for our family as we lost our sweet angel Max. He was a German Sheppard and Hound mix. A beautiful dog easily trained and loyal till the end. He has forever stolen a piece of our heart. 2013-2016
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you and your family. Your angel is with you every time you think of him.
DeletePlease pray for our Sammy dog she was our 14 year old golden that we rescued at 1.5 years old. We had to put her down today due to lymphoma. It is so sad but we couldn't delay with her symptoms. Lord please watch over her til I can be with her again.
ReplyDeleteI am praying for you. I trust that the Lord has Sammy wrapped up in his loving arms along with our golden girl, Cali. We also had to make the agonizing decision 9/7/2016 to put our girl down due to cancer. ((Hugs)).
DeletePlease pray for healing for a cat, Finn, who was given to the shelter by a family who could no longer care for him. His heart was broken, he stopped eating and developed a respiratory infection. He is being fed by a tube now and looks so sad and sick. Please pray that Gods will be done and his suffering ends.
ReplyDeleteLord, we pray for Finn. Please comfort him and shower him with love and healing until you decide it is his time to be returned to you. Amen.
DeletePlease pray for our family. We had to put down our 12 year old golden girl, Cali, due to an aggressive, evil cancer that stole our sunshine away. We had her since she was a puppy. A beautiful girl, so happy. She brought so much joy to us and everyone she met, of the human kind. As for nonhumans, not so much. I am devastated and find no relief from this astonishing sorrow. Please, God, take her in your loving arms and hold her close, until then....
ReplyDeletePraise Jesus for Finn's healing. He has improved, his breathing is better and is starting to eat. Please continue to pray that St. Francis intercedes and continues to pray for Finns recovery.
ReplyDeletePraying for Finn. I've had him on my mind the last couple of days. I also pray for him to be comfortable and that he will heap a bounty of love from his caregivers.
ReplyDeleteWould you please say a pray for Cam he has a 1 cancerous tumor we know of and multiple other lumps they will be taking out to biopsy when he goes in for surgery on Thursday the 15th of September, I just hope he will be ok i can't imagine my life without him. ReplyDeleteI will pray for your beloved Carb and Buddy
DeleteI would really appreciate prayers for my beloved Sol (our male cat, our furry son) who passed yesterday... Thank you <3
ReplyDeleteCould you please add Buddy to the prayer list. He was just euthanized tonight, 9-22-16, at 7:15 at a local animal shelter. He had done nothing wrong. They were simply out of space. He was only 5 years old.
ReplyDeletePraying for Buddy and all the innocent animals who are euthanized for all reasons that lack love and compassion. They are not euthanized to end suffering and pain. How incredibly troubling and sad to know and understand this reality. May Buddy meet St Francis who will hold him and give him love and peace. Run free Buddy forever more at the Rainbow Bridge.
ReplyDeleteA broken hearted father. Please pray for my beautiful cat Savannah she passed last night with her family by her side. She was my heart's delight every day I came home . She was battling stomach issues and the last few months were heart breaking for all involved. I know she's in a better place but my heart is hurting so badly. We miss our girl...Any Prayers for her would be appreciated. Thanks
ReplyDeletePlease pray for our 8-year old terrier named Callie. She brought us so much love, happiness and craziness that we are in shock that she is no longer with us. We released her from her stomach cancer today(Oct 7, 2016) and r trying to resume our now empty lives. Please let her enjoy wherever she is now,Lord.
ReplyDeletePrayers Larry and Glenda for you and your precious Callie. She is now at the Rainbow Bridge free from all pain and suffering waiting faithfully for you until that glorious day when you both will be reunited with her forever more. The peace of Christ to you during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteOur ever faithful 🐶 Mang Lando passed away tonight. Please include him in your prayers.
ReplyDeleteCan I also request that our other dog who passed on several months ago be included in your prayers too. His name was Pitlog and he was a good and reliable dog. I miss them.
Prayers for you and the loss of Mang Lando and Pitlog. May they be free from all pain and in the presence of our Creator. St Francis guide them to where you are and watch over them. May your days be filled with precious memories of your dogs and may you know the peace of Christ during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteDear Ones,
ReplyDeleteOur beloved rat/fox terrier, Speck, was released to Spirit on October 27. He had congestive heart failure. We weren't quite prepared for him to leave us yesterday at the animal hospital and we pray his Spirit is at Peace. He was such a joy to so many who have been especially touched by the depth of his eyes' gaze into their own. Our hearts ache and we hope we made the best decision to let him go yesterday.
Thank you so much for your blessings of prayer and love. Bless you.
thank you for this i needed this .could you pray for rabbit the dog that was murdered he passed away last night when someone ran him over. thank you and may God bless this site
ReplyDeleteI just posted here last Aug 17, 2015 when I lost my Shihtzu, Snookie. After 15 months, her best friend Chiku has followed her.
ReplyDeleteChiku was my first and only cat amongst a big family of dogs. He was very sweet, gentle and playful. He sometimes acted more dog, than he did cat. He even felt that Snookie was his mother when he was growing up. He was heartbroken when she didn't come home. Now he has joined her. He passed on way too soon and all too sudden. 4 years with my sweet, handsome boy was much too short. I was in such disbelief that there were times I would shake him gently asking him to wake up. But I'm learning to accept and trying to find comfort that Chiku and Snookie are together again. I pray that he finds peace, I pray that he feels loved, I pray that he has companionship. I am thankful that he is no longer in pain. I trust that he will be taken care of. I miss you my catywapus. I miss you my Chikipoopoo. I miss you my handsome boy. I know Lord that everyone has his/her own time, but I beg of you not to take another too soon. My heart is still broken. Please...
Please pray for our beloved dog Jack. He was killed yesterday by a truck in the street in front of our home. He was instantly killed. We are so heartbroken with this loss. He was a loving dog who never knew a stranger. He was my constant companion and helped me through many of life's storms. Please pray that he is safe and at peace in heaven. Thank you so very much.
ReplyDeleteMy sweet, beautiful boy Gus died last night and I am completely heartbroken. I went in search for some sort of relief from the overwhelming sadness that fills my heart and came across this beautiful site. Please pray for him as he makes his way into God's arms and let him know I look forward to the day we meet again.
ReplyDeleteDear Winnie....may you find peace in knowing that Gus is at the Rainbow Bridge where he is free of all pain and is basking in eternal light and joy. Find comfort in your memories of Gus and through the peace of Christ know you will someday be reunited with your dear friend . What a glorious day that will be. Prayers in this difficult time for you and may God bless you with the grace of his love and peace.
ReplyDeleteSteve
Please pray for SOPHIE WOOD, a chocolate lab that took her final journey to her resting point in the pasture of infinity with her lifelong partner and best friend Tank. We send them mountains of love and can't wait to see them again in heaven. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Sophie we love you girl and stay with Tankie you'll be so safe girl. Peace be with you.
ReplyDeleteMy little kitten - one of the twins is lost to a tom cat's violence. I feel deeply responsible for neglect. She had a burial in my small garden. I seek forgiveness and peace for the lost dear soul. Prayer that the other kitten with the mother are safe.
ReplyDeleteHi, my grandparents dog Tilly recently developed a pain in her hip and has been unable to move or walk. She is only 2 years old. The vets cannot find anything wrong with her, and so tomorrow she will go to the university to be studied by a veterinarian. We pray that he is able to diagnose Tilly and she is able to recover from her illness. Please keep Tilly in your prayers
ReplyDeleteI am asking for your prayers for my cat Zeek, 14 years old, who has been lost since Nov 12, 2016. Zeek was rescued over 10 years ago, and blossomed from a fearful and scared animal, to this beautiful, strong and loving little gentlemen that he is. Many will understand when I say that he "rescued me" as much as we rescued him. Over the years I forged a very strong bond with him, and now I can't find peace since he disappeared. I was supposed to be there for him, to protect him and to make sure that he never gets hurts again...I failed him...and I can't get over that. The unknown is extremely difficult and I can't stop crying, I can accept that he might be gone and if so, then I know he is wirh St-Francis and he is being loved until the day I see him again. But I don't know where he is..and I keep crying over my baby being alone, scared and if he might be wondering what did he do wrong to be thrown into a bad life again.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of him being sick, hurt, scared and starving is very difficult to cope with. I need to find peace. I need ALL your prayers to help him to find the path home, where he belongs...even if this path is not in my arms. I am asking prayers for Zeek, but also prayers for me, Prayers to bring peace in my heart and most important PRAYERS that will help me to know where he is. Thank you for reading my post, I feel so alone and sad.
St-Francis, Patrons of animals...I pray to you for the safe return of Zeek. Please lead him to us again, he has so much more love to give and to receive. Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Our precious, sweet, beautiful kitty, Sugarfoot, was killed by a coyote yesterday afternoon on Christmas Day. We are SO devastated we can't think, eat, sleep, or do anything. He was happy Christmas morning running around and playing with my husband. We have been very vigilant since there have been more coyote sightings, to keep him in at night and not let him out too early in the morning. However, he was killed, we believe, around 12noon, right in broad daylight. Luckily, our neighbors spotted his dead body before the coyote had taken him away, and we're taking him tomorrow to be cremated. We are questioning God and why he took our sweet little boy when we loved him so much, and had saved his life from the shelter. Christmas will always be tainted knowing we lost Sugarfoot on that day. Please, send us some words of comfort; we are suffering so. Thank you, Pamela & Michael
ReplyDeleteDear E. Los Angeles,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like Sugarfoot was an incredible and wonderful cat . I feel your pain and your sorrow. I just posted ny prayers request just before yours -Zeek Littke Gentlemen, and while I did not witness his attack, I too feel that he was takempn from me by coyotes. I can feel the void in your heart, the sadness that feels like it will never go away and the regrets of not having been able to do more to prevent this. Only time will diminish your anguish and bring you peace again, I know exactly what you are going through and there will be a time where the tears will be less frequent, a time where you will find yourself smiling while thinking a Sugarfoot and a time where you will be able to look at his pictures and with teary eyes, you will laugh at the memories of his antics and playfulness, The sadness will always be with you, but you will learn to cherish the beautiful moments you had with him and the love you gave him. He is now over The Rainbow Bridge, sitting with St-Francis and play like a kitten again. He will NEVER forget you...and he will be there to greet you when it will be time to be reunited again. Do not hold your tears, let them flow freely - they are tears of love that will touch Sugarfoot soul. I wish you peace in your heart.
I am in tears reading all the lovely tributes and requests for prayers. I am in need of one and so is my cat. My little Pixel, who is 19, is not well. She may have a tumor in her throat that is obstructing her breathing. Because of her age she may not be able to endure any kind of treatment. I have given her all kinds of different foods to see if she will eat. She did eat for a few days but today, she only drank some water. I know that we may have to euthanize her tomorrow or the next day and it's hard. We had to make that hard decision with her sister Digit last year when her tumor got so bad that she could no longer walk. Other than not eating today, Pixel is still feisty and doesn't like being given the liquid medication. I don't want her to be in pain or to suffer. Digit was my husband's lap kitty and Pixel would always be in my lap. She just wants to be alone now and it's hard to watch her and worry about her. I know we have to do what is right for her but it's so hard.
ReplyDeleteDear Dolores- so sad to hear Pixels situation and your difficult decision. So beautiful though you have shared an amazing 19yrs together. What joyous memories you must have of your shared love. This must be a terrifying time for Pixel when you consider if she is having any difficulty in breathing minute by minute. Like you I had this very difficult decision with my Teddy the West Highland Terrier who had COPD and labored in his breathing. I had to finally let him go because each breath of live should not require pain and suffering. Only you can decide when but may you find it in your heart to relieve her fear anxiety and give her the comfort and peace she deserves showing her the ultimate gift of your love. With no air to breathe or food she continues to suffer. I pray for peace for you in this decision knowing by your message that you are full of love and compassion for Pixel as her companion and caretaker. May Christ's peace surround you and be your guide.
ReplyDeleteAll, I pray for your strength and the ever lasting life of your beloved pets. Last night Lucy (lhasa apso) passed after an amazing 15 years as part of our family. We're devastated to say the least and today I feel as if I will never recover from losing her. Deep down inside I know I will see her again some day but I will need help getting through each day when something reminds me of her. A friend today told me that we gave her a great life, the reality is that she is the one that gave us a great life. Rest in peace my pretty girl, you will always be loved.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for Dolly, Diane and Walts 24 year old calico cat. Shes taking her last breaths i believe tonight. She has been a faithful companion to us but others as well as we have only had her for six years. We love her dearly and will miss her and her sycronistys. In her last few years she became quite the talker and we loved her conversations she had with us. May the dear lord hold and cradle her. GOD BLESS YOU DOLLY.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for Dolly the cat 1993 to 2017. She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteI've prayed for you and Dolly and hope that each day brings happy memories of your times together. More importantly, I pray that each day is less painful for you than the one before.
ReplyDeleteWalter, very sorry for your loss. You are in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteMy boxer girl, Olivia, was diagnosed with metastatic cancer several days ago. Our family will be with her as she transitions from this earth to heaven. She will do zoomies again and walk normal again. I truly believe that heaven holds a place for our loving pets and that we will see them again. Thank you God for my sweet girl. Please may her final days be comfortable. Love you Olivia. You will be missed by many. Thank you for any prayers that may be offered for Olivia and our family. God bless, Cindy
ReplyDeleteCindy my prayers are with you and your family. I pray that every thought of Olivia brings you joy love and happiness in Jesus name. Yes I do believe that God has s special place for our beloved pets, it was/is part of had creation. Thank you Jesus Amen.
DeleteOur family's wonderful Labrador Hera had to be put to sleep today as she was suffering and dying of cancer. We stayed with her until she passed away quietly in loving arms. Please dear God, hear this prayer for Hera, may her soul be with you in Heaven and may she be forever within your kingdom. She was a sweet, loving and loyal pet and we pray or her now in death as we loved her in life.
ReplyDeleteThank you God for the time you gave our family with Hera.
My buddy Trooper had to be put down on Monday. He was a beautiful lab that we rescued when he was 6. We had six years with the most special friend me and my wife had. The perfect friend. Only great memories. He never met someone he didn't like and was loved by all who were around him. May God bless him and St. Francis
ReplyDeleteTom, our sincerest condolences. We are praying for you and your wife. God bless
ReplyDeleteWe lost our beloved pet Sammy yesterday, at the age of 15 yes, four months and 11 days. He was a loyal and devoted member of our family and loved by our grandchildren. They are out of town and unaware of his passing, ages 6 and 11. Please help us to help them cope with the loss of such a wonderful dog and please bless us as we work through our own grief. This has been more horrific than we could ever imagine and we give thanks and praise to God for all of the wonderful years we had with him. We are heartbroken and he will be dearly missed but never forgotten l
ReplyDeleteTo Grandma Knows Best.... thoughts and prayers are with you for your loss of Sammy and for the guidance from Jesus as you sit down to explain to your grandchildren when they return. May the Peace of Christ help you now and sustain you through your grief.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for our beloved dog Casey. Lord comfort her with your loving tender care, so that she may transition into your arms in Heaven. Casey has been with us for 15yrs. and given us nothing but love. Please do not let her suffer in Jesus name Amen.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for us as we make the final journey over the next week with Archie, our 7 year old Flat Coated Retriever. He is the gentlest, kindest, most loving dog possible. Dying of cancer, he is still wanting his walks along the local river! We ask that his passing will be peaceful and kind, as he deserves.
ReplyDeleteSt Francis, who is Patron of the church I serve as priest, be generous in your prayers for Archie.
I look forward to the day in which we meet again in God's Kingdom. Animals give us such love, but it is we, who are sinners, who need prayer, not they, who have not in any way offended their God.
Prayers for Archie as he makes his journey across the Rainbow Bridge. May his transition be peaceful without fear or struggle and may he find rest. St Francis we pray to you to guide our loving pets to where you are so they can be in Christ's eternal light and love. Amen.
ReplyDeleteOur cat angel has been very sick with cancer for awhile, she has not eaten anything for the last 5 days and has gotten worse. My son is autistic and she has been his ESA companion since we found her. Her original owners were evicted in 2006 and all the pets were just left outside. I think God sent her as a blessing for my son, she is the most patient cat I ever met. She is so sick and suffering so much, I know it's time to take her to the vet, but every time I look at her I keep thinking she wants more time, then I wonder if it's me not wanting to let go. I also feel guilty like I'm ending her life too early. Please pray for her every one and pray I have the strength to do what's right. She's the best blessing god could of sent my son. Thank you
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry to hear Angel is suffering in this end of life stage battling cancer. It certainly sounds as if God provided this "angel" to watch over your son and provide him joy and friendship. It's difficult when we are entrusted to the life and care of our pets to know when to release them of their pain but we must always remember they are not able to tell us of their suffering. The greatest love and compassion we can give them is to allow them to peacefully transition in their journey to the Rainbow Bridge. I pray you have the strength and courage to provide Angel the ultimate act of love when it is time so her silent suffering can cease. May Christ give you strength and peace to say thank you and good bye to Angel.
My sweet, loving 18+ year old cat, Decaf, is on his final journey tonight. I have been keeping vigil for the last 8 hours, and he is so weak, but he continues to try and be there for his family, lifting his head and trying to get up whenever a family member comes in to see him. No cat has ever been so loyal, loving and trusting. All he wants is me by his side. I know our time is very short, and I pray his transition is easy. I ask you, dear St Francis, to cuddle Decaf as you carry him home to heaven where he will be reunited with Friski, Taffy, Mocha and Java, and our dog Skye. Mom and Dad you will be waiting to kiss his sweet face and give him familiar laps to curl up on. Thank you Sweet Jesus for the gift of Decaf in my life. I will miss him intensely and forever.
DeletePlease pray for me and my 12 year old doberman shepard jumper. I just found out that she has lung cancer and im devestated. I need prayers for her to have a painless passing and prayers for me to hold it together and make the rest of her life beautiful. She has been absolutly the greatest most loving dog and I cannot thank God enough for bringing her into my life
ReplyDeletePlease pray for my dying feral cat Mimi who brought us such joy and happiness these last 12 years.
ReplyDeleteMimi is on her final journey tonight. Is it really so long ago when I first posted she was ill ? She was just so loving and patient , funny and intelligent . I would like to think I will see her again .She brought us so much joy. I thank God for the twelve years she remained with us.
ReplyDeleteGod is love. You loved Mimi and love is of God and is never lost or wasted. You WILL see Mimi again in the new heaven and the new earth. I pray she passes into the arms of Jesus peacefully. God bless you.
DeleteWould you all please pray for my cat, Daisy. She is frail, and she is having some mobility issues. I do not have any children, and this loving cat is my child. She was by my side when I was dying, and I just want to have her for many more years. Please pray for her return to health so my love and I can share many more special days together. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDear Pilotguy...How's Daisy doing? I hope she's doing better. I know how hard it is to lose our beautiful angels. We've lost so many of ours, and last Christmas our beautiful kitty, Sugarfoot, was killed by a coyote. I still suffer, so we aren't celebrating Christmas this year. I am thinking and praying for your loving Daisy, and to give you strength if she's passed over. My thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteMy 3 year old poodle mix Sally is dying. I've taken her to 3 vets. Please pray that she has a complete turnaround or if it is her time to go she has a peaceful death. I am sick with grief.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for my Abby. She is a beautiful 13yr old multi coloured tiger striped cat. She is dying here at home. She's peaceful, no strength, just waiting to go home. She's the best kitty I've had in 31yrs. of loving cats. I pray She goes tonight in her sleep. Thank you. Thomas
ReplyDeleteHow difficult for both you and Abby for her to be dying on Christmas Eve. You are loving her on her journey back to her Creator in the best way possible, in her own home with you by her side. I will pray for you and for Abby today that her passing is peaceful and that she just slips away in her sleep. Bless her, and ask the angels and Saint Francis to carry her gently home to heaven to wait for you. A cat that special was a sweet gift to you and you will hold her in your heart forever, Thomas. Blessings. Louise
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas everyone. Sadly, when I got up yesterday morning I found that Abby had died during the night. I'm sure she's with her two other sister cats that have also died in the past2-10 years. Have a happy and blessed new year! Thomas
ReplyDeleteVery sorry or your loss. God bless you Thomas. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear of Abby’s passing,Thomas, she is with many other very loved kitties and feeling no more pain. A blessed Christmas to you, and my condolences on your loss of sweet Sbby.
ReplyDeletePlease send a prayer for my sweet cat Charlie who I sadly had to say goodbye to yesterday, as I had to make that hard decision. I miss him so much but I know I will be reunited with him one day. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePlease say a prayer for my sweet cat Charlie, who I sadly had to say goodbye to yesterday. I finally had to make that hard decision to let him go. I know we will be reunited one day. I miss him so much. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSara, you will be reunited with Charlie one day. Keep the faith. God is love, and He will ensure that the love between you and Charlie is eternal. Charlie is waiting for you. My condolences on your loss of a sweet kitty.
ReplyDeleteLouise
Thank you Louise for you condolences. I'm on day 5 and slowly getting easier. My heart breaks though to keep thinking in the last couple weeks I would lose my patience some and try to force feed Charlie. He didn't deserve that. Instead of losing my patience with him I should have comforted him. I just hope he knows how sorry I am and how much I truly love him and if I could go back in time to undo and redo I would.
ReplyDeleteSara, don’t beat yourself up about your efforts to help Charlie, you were just short tempered, and force fed him out of your desire to help him. He does know how much you love him. Think about the good times you shared together. I DO understand having just lost my little boy, Decaf. I will pray for your healing, Sara. It only hurts because of the love. Louise
ReplyDeleteOnce again thank you for your response. I am so truly thankful and grateful to find this site/blogspot. I'm so sorry for the loss of Decaf. I lost my first cat Dobie 5 years ago, she was 12 and it was just as hard. I didn't know who to talk to and had to get through. So I'm thankful to know I found someone to help give me more comfort at this time. I know Dobie was here to help Charlie find his way to heaven. Thanks again Louise. Sara
DeleteAnytime you need an ear, Sara, just post and you will have other compassionate people who have lost beloved pets to help you in your grief. Blessings for you, Charlie and Dobie!
ReplyDeletePlease pray for my daughter, Nicky, as she's made the most difficult, mature and heart wrenching decision for her dear friend Karats. We brought this beautiful mini lop bunny into our home when Nicky's dad left us when she was 6 years old. She turned 16 on January 16th. During the 10 years Karats has been with us he has been her friend and her safe place. His amazing listening ears helped her though so many of the hard parts of a young life...tough days at school, bullies, grandmother fighting cancer, fights with brother or sister, and the occasional "mom doesn't understand." He taught her responsibility as she has been a great mom in taking care of Karats.
ReplyDeleteKarats hasn't been able to hop since June and there wasn't anything we could do to help him except to make sure he had what he needed. He has since gone blind. Even though he couldn't see or hop, he would always be excited to hear us and know we were there...until recently.
Karats, thank you for being a true friend to Nicky. She loves you so much and this has been so hard on her to see you suffer. Shes been struggling with the decision to "kill her friend". Now she sees it as "rescuing her friend". As painful as it is to make this decision, it brings us comfort to know you will be able to see your way to hop across the bridge today. We will see you again. We love you so dearly!
Prayers for you, Nicky, and for Karats, during this heart breaking time. You will be reunited some day and Karats will tell you how much he loves you. Stay strong and know you are doing the best for your friend. St. Francis, carry his sweet soul straight to heaven.
ReplyDeletePlease say a prayer this Easter holiday for our beloved cat Irie, a member of our family for 16 wonderful years. Unfortunately, she has severe kidney disease and will need to take that long, lonely journey across the "Rainbow Bridge" tomorrow or the day after. This saddens us greatly, despite believing we will all one day be reunited in heaven. God bless.
ReplyDeleteI send my prayers to you and Irie this Easter weekend. I have so much compassion for you as you make this very difficult decision. I also recently lost my beloved cat Decaf to kidney disease. I will pray that St Francis holds you and Irie in his loving hands as you take Irie to the rainbow bridge. You WILL be reunited again and hold Irie in your arms and listen to that purr you love so much. Prayers and sympathy, Louise
ReplyDeleteLouise, thank you so much for your kind words and prayers. Irie is surprisingly still with us, and may continue to do so for a few more days or weeks to come. A change in health for the better has occurred, albeit small, has given us hope and the courage to personally administer an IV drip. All is in God's hands, and Debbie and I are simply mere instruments doing what we can to hold onto our special gift. The power of prayer is amazing, and God does work in mysterious ways.
ReplyDeleteSince Irie's terminal diagnosis, that which we thought was important is less significant now, while the kindness of strangers and love from Irie, friends and family is no longer taken for granted. Time is short, we need to make the most of it. Thanks again!!!!
I'm sending out a prayer request that my husband's cousin's kid can find find a wonderful home and family for her sweet cat Sammie who she can no longer keep.
