Today's Update: Stretch the Cat

From Jim:
We brought our feline daughter home tonight! Thank you prayer warriors!

First thing she did was "demand" that she be taken out of her carrier when she was released to us by Kate, the tech. (That's a good sign---if you knew Stretch!)

Once home, she attempted to "slide" out of her carrier. We were afraid being kept in the ER cage for a week without movement may have caused her legs to atrophy. We guided her while she pushed herself up with her front legs and propped up her hind legs while she lingered on the oriental rug in the basement.

Hopefully the medications prescribed will give her strength back. Please continue to keep our feline daughter Stretch in your prayers. This will be a steep uphill climb, but with your support and prayers. we will overcome all difficulties.

From our family to yours, we are forever grateful for everyone's generous support.

Urgent Prayer Request for Finn McCool the Cat

From Ellen:
You helped me last year when my cat Keevah McCool went missing for 17 long days. We got her back because of your prayers and the kindness of someone that turned her into the SPCA…she made her way home because she had a chip and because all of those prayers were answered!

We were just told this morning that the big brother, Finn McCool, is in kidney failure and he is not even 4 years old. The doctors are keeping him at the hospital as we speak and are hoping to find out why as well as find a way of getting it under control so he can come home and have a normal life with his 4 fellow rescues who treat him like a big brother. He’s only been gone for 4 hours and I can tell they are missing him.

Finn has been very healthy and never had a problem at all until I noticed how much water he was drinking and how much he would urinate. I finally took him to the vets yesterday and the test results showed, much to their astonishment, that he is having kidney failure. Things aren’t completely hopeless and we are really praying for the best possible outcome which would be getting his levels where they should be, medicine daily and a new diet plan so his kidneys function as well as possible. He is still a baby and we want him to be with us for a long time to come.

Could you please post a message asking for everyone that is willing to say a prayer for our Finn McCool. He is an amazingly sweet, kind and gentle soul and he has brought unspeakable amounts of joy into the lives of myself and my husband. I have attached a picture of Finn with one of our other cats named Butters. Finn is the black and white on the left with his paws around Butters (gray & white.)

Thank you for any prayers you can offer up for him.

Feast of the Archangels - Prayer to St. Raphael for Healing

Today is the Feast of the Archangels...St. Michael, who battled with Lucifer and kicked him out of heaven...St. Gabriel, who announced to the Blessed Mother she would conceive and bear a Son....Emmanuel...God with us...and St. Raphael, God's healer.

Father Joe Whalen has a beautiful ministry. It is the St. Raphael Healing Oil Ministry. I am going to share the link with you here so that you can visit, read Father's story and about the ministry itself. There is also a good prayer for healing that I am posting here. It is supposed to be prayed when you use the St. Raphael's healing oil on a sick person.

The healing oil and prayers that accompany it is intended for human beings. However, I do not think God or St. Raphael would mind if we ask for his intercession in healing our sick pets.

On a personal note, I have used the healing oil on my sick pets. I have also shared them with friends. This is not magic nor is it New Age or superstition. This is just one of the ways the Church's sacramentals assist us in our needs when we put ALL our faith in Jesus, the Divine Physician.

Prayer to St. Raphael the Archangel

Glorious Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, you are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace. You are a guide of those who journey by land or sea or air, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners.

I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. Because you are the "medicine of God," I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities of my soul and the ills that afflict my body. I especially ask of you the favor (name it) and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

"Jesus, Mary, I love You, Save Souls"

CRITICAL : MORE URGENT Prayer Request for Stretch (aka Pretty Girl) the cat

From Jim:
We just heard back from Stretch's Dr. and 48 hours ago they found some e-coli resisting the two antibiotics she was on----he has switched her over to a new compound.

Dr. G wants to give her a chance to improve overnight - Stretch's stay will be one week tomorrow. Friday. He wants us (Stretch's parents) to decide whether to put her to sleep (which he recommends if she does not improve) or bring her home (which he explicitly says he does not recommend---but i beg to differ!).

We trust that everyone (esp. those who have lost their beloved feline/ canine sons and daughters) will understand how difficult this decision will be.

We ask for a Miracle to bring her back whole----but trust that the years she has spent with us through the years have served her well and the joy she has given our family will forever remain in us----Thy Will Be Done!

Please Pray for the complete recovery of our feline daughter Stretch (aka Pretty Girl). She was born March 1991.

We live in a tiny neighbourhood in Northern Ontario, Canada. On weekends we all walk our dogs together on a country road. Buddy, one of our black labs, darted into the bush on Saturday, September 23, 2011, and has been missing for five days. Buddy is our protector. He walks ahead of the group for a while then runs behind us is anyone is lagging keeping us together as a group.

I know Buddy is okay but just needs a little help to get home. Please pray that Buddy comes home safely, as we all miss him dearly.

Thank you so much,

Updated Prayer Request - Sophie the Dog

From Karen:
We still haven't gotten Sophie returned but I have learned a little bit about exercising patience. I have had to hire an attorney and some progress is being made but not to the point that Sophie is anywhere close to home. I expect that at some point we will have to go to court to make things right.

I am still regularly asking ST. Jude and St. Rita for intercession and it provides me much comfort and the ability to continue pursuing Sophie's safe return.

Please update everyone and ask them for their continued prayers and support.

I am writing on behalf of a dear friend. Her darling boy, Monkey, was recently diagnosed with inoperable jaw cancer. This 15 year old fella has been a constant companion to Lydia. He's currently in good spirits as the cancer hasn't had an effect on his demeanor.
My friend is a profound believer in the power of prayer and positive thought. She writes:
This is Monkey. He is a 16 year old dude who was just diagnosed with inoperable cancer in his jaw. The vet gives him just a few months. I can't put into words the love I have for him. Please add him to your prayers of white light and healing.\

Message from Jundi the Cat's Owner

From Brittany:
I wrote a month ago about my cat Jundi who is missing in another state. We still have not found her, but I did get calls about sightings of her after I posted on your site. Thank you to all who prayed....I truly believe it helped. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank three women, Connie, Sarah, and Cary, who reached out to me from West Virginia. They do not know me, but saw my posters and wanted to help. They live six hours away and have been searching for my cat every week. They are truly angels, as I just started graduate school and have a young son and am not able to travel the six hours easily. I am just amazed at how kind people can be. Please keep my little girl in your prayers, and I hope I have the opportunity to help others with their pets like these ladies have helped me with mine.

Thank you,

Urgent Prayer Request for Charlie the Dog

From Charlie's Owner:
Pray for my dog Charley. He is so sick I need a miracle Please pray for his recovery

Sad News - Tiller the Dog

From Jeff:

Tiller died rather suddenly. She was feeling pretty good and wagging her tail almost to the very end. I was sure that she was already seeing the great dogs who had left this life before her, certain ones in particular of course, and running with them, now without any pain in a place where the sun shines through fall leaves.

I enclose a picture of her daughter, called Seraph, who is still with us.

I hope everybody who loses a beloved pet will eventually find comfort until they "cross the bridge", or however you might think of it.
I guess I don't even have to ask you good people to pray for Jeff. God bless.

Thank you Carol. I will add you as a prayer warrior.

Latest on Tiller the Dog

From Jeff:
Tiller took a turn for the worse yesterday, and I'm not very confident that she will make it through today. I may take her to see the vet this morning but it doesn't look good.

She had a nice time saying goodbye to this place. There are some pretty famous friends she may be about to rejoin, and I told her if she sees where she needs to go that she can go. It has been pretty amazing. She just did stop wagging her tail.

I may have some more to say about this dog, or about dogs in general, but I may be busy for a while. I did want to pass on a piece of information. I have a friend who is a clinical veterniary nephrologist at Ohio State. HE has developed a very safe medicine - it's not really a drug, it's a hormone version of vitamin D. It's called calcitriol. It helps dogs that have kidney disease and don't want to eat. It's not expensive and you can Google it and read about it. This medicine is recommended by vets throughout Ohio and Indiana.

I appreciate the prayers that were sent to Tiller and she has had an easy time. Very peaceful. You always keep a little hope as long as they are breathing, but Till has fought a long fight.

God bless you all.
Please pray for Tiller and Jeff.

Urgent Prayer Request for Jack the Cat

From Rebecca:
Will you please pray (post the prayer) for Jack the Cat. He was lost 3 weeks ago at JFK Airport in American Airlines Baggage. His FB page is Jack The Cat Lost in AA Baggage at JFK - he has over 14,000 “likes” and a bunch of us trying to help locate him. There are so many volunteers and people trying to get the word out.

Please pray Jack is kept safe, fed, watered, and stops fearing long enough to be found by good people who can grab him (he’s skittish) and get him back to his family and please pray for Karen (his owner) Barry (his brother) and Mary Beth (his aunt) as well as all the volunteers. I’ve attached information and a photo of Jack.

Thank you!

Urgent Prayer Request for Dakota the Dog

From our friend Patricia:
Once again I'm writing to ask for prayers. This time it's for a dog of a good friend, a golden retriever who probably has liver cancer. As she waits for confirmation from the exams, I'd like to ask for prayers - both for her and for her dog, whom she's had for 10 years.

Thanks so much, and God bless you for all you do.

Prayer Request for Cookie the Cat

From Christie:

From Beth:
Please include Buster, our 14-year old Airedale Terrier who has cancer. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly for your compassion,

Urgent Prayer Request for Maltreated Dog

From our friend Kozz:
I just saw a very mistreated St. Bernard and it disturbed me so much
that I wanted to request for prayers. This poor dog is tied on a short
leash out on the pavement outside the house with no roof or anything
over his head ,and there he lies the whole day and night on rags. He
is kept outside in the sweltering heat and the rain. The owners are
really rich and live in a huge house and have most likely bought him
as a status symbol. But I really can't understand why they have to
treat him so cruelly. My heart breaks for the poor dog, as he is not a
native breed and would require much more care because of the higher
temperatures. There is no concept of animal control in my country and
the only ( and best thing) that I can think of is for prayers. Please
pray for him and that the owners get the grace to be kinder and a
change of heart.

Another Update and Prayer Request for Tiller the Dog

From Jeff:
If you didn't post the "good news" about Tiller...she's still having a few problems. Blood in her stool...she is now taking prednisone, I'm sure everybody knows that with that drug sometimes you get a miracle and sometimes not. I guess it's normal when you were that sick and pretty close to passing out, as she was.

Prayer Request for Odie the Dog

From Christine:
I stumbled upon your blog through yahoo when I keyed in prayers for lost pets. Yesterday, my friend and her family went though very difficult times when their pet dog Odie disappeared from home. According to her dad, Odie's been dog napped from the gate. I wonder how the person actually can do it as the gate was locked. It's very sad as Odie is only a 6 months Jack Russell. I really do hope everyone can pray for a miracle for Odie's safe return. Let's pray for him. Thanks and May God Bless you and everyone who has helped to pray.

Sad News - Cashy the Dog

From Danielle:
We had to put Cashy down today. The cancer began to affect his colon and lungs. He could not breathe. We are going through an unbelievably rough time. We miss our baby and live him with our whole souls. Thank you for everything you've done Esther.
-Danielle, Max, and Family
Please keep Danielle and her family in your prayers.

Update on Tiller the Dog

From Jeff:
I just came back from taking Tiller to a vet - a new vet. The old vet didn't contact the oncologist, and so Tiller got misdiagnosed. She's an old girl, and it's going to take a lot for her to live another year. But the new vet didn't have any trouble figuring out the problem, and the oncologist said the same thing. I really thought she was going down but now things look very positive for the short term anyway.

We're very grateful to be part of the good news category this time. I most sincerely thank everybody who commented on Tiller and said a prayer for her. I will visit the board to see who needs help from time to time and to say my prayer for your pets. The idea that we may see them again in a better place is very empowering to me.

Yours with many thanks

Sad News - Cleo the Dog

From Christina:
I'd like to request a prayer for my dog, Cleo, again. We had to let her go tonight to spare her suffering. Thank you so much for praying for her. She is with God now and no longer suffering.
Please keep Christina in your prayers as she mourns the loss of her beloved dog.

From Ryan:

Prayer Request for Tiller the Dog

From Jeff:
I was looking around for some prayer help and I found your web site.
It's very nice.

My Lab Tiller is 13. She has a lot of things wrong with her but she was
ticking along OK until just recently. She still looks great and I have
been praying that she would get a surge of energy and be able to get up
and move around a little longer. She is still wagging her tail and
making happy noises, but she's very weak (and I won't go into the vet
aspects of that.

She has had a wonderful life. We can't complain about anything. And her
natural daughter is here with us, and some other critters. But she was
the mama of everybody, and we have been praying to the Lord that she would somehow be able to stay with us for a while longer.

I will be sure to check your site for other prayer requests. I couldn't
figure out how to post but maybe I will eventually.

Yours very truly,

Bogie the Dog

From John:
Bogie, I believe has told this morning that the time has come. The
tumor has grown even larger since I last updated you. The vet had
decided after all that they could not remove the tumor so we were left
to enjoy the final months with him. I found a holistic vet which he
would have seen in two weeks from today, but this morning Bogie was
pacing up and down feeling very uncomfortable and tired. I wish I
could keep him with me for many more years but prolonging his life for
the sake of mine is selfish in my part. We will miss our Bogster but
we will see him again. Thank you Esther for all you energy and
prayers.
Please keep John in your prayers.

Good News - Miss Muffet the Dog

From Archanna:
This time I bring good news! I brought Miss Muffet back to the vet and it turned out the substitute vet filling in for our regular had misdiagnosed Muffet- it turns out Muffet just has a stomach infection, which can be fixed with antibiotics. I am sure all of your payers have blessed my best friend, and given her strength in her great sickness.

I am so thankful that a website like this exists and that people are so kind.

Thank you all for your help and prayers!!! :)

Update on Miss Muffet the Dog

From Archanna:
Miss Muffet and I got back from the vet and the vet can't tell what is wrong with her. He just said that it was fatal and prescribed pain medication and to make her more comfortable. She stopped eating and is shivering... It is so hard to watch her suffer. please continue to pray for her to have peace. Thank you all so much for your support. God bless you all.

We've seen her a few times in and near the yard, but have been unsuccessful in bringing her back. My son and his girlfriend had to leave yesterday to their home 4 hours away, and are devastated that they had to leave Eva behind. Please pray for Eva to come back to us safe and sound soon. Another Update on Sophia the Dog

Dear Friends, Karen sent another update this morning.
The police wouldn't file a report but they did ask the family
to return Sophie to us. That did not work either so I am left with
prayer and leaving a note with the vet that adopted her out to ensure
Sophie's health issues can be properly addressed.

This whole process has left me devastated and lost. I know there must be some purpose or God wouldn't keep me on this path but I just can't
see what the point is. Still, I'll keep praying for guidance and
enlightenment and the ability to cope with what truly feels like a
broken heart.

Thank you for all the support and virtual friendship established through
the undying love of our pets.

You site did bring me joy and comfort throughout this ordeal and I will
continue to visit and add my prayers for those who need them.

As I replied to Karen, I suggest we all pray for St. Jude and St. Rita's intercession. They are the patron saints of lost and impossible causes. I also strongly suggest praying Bl. Mother Teresa's express novena...9 Memorare prayers in a row.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Good News - Dickens the Cat

From June:
I’m very happy to report – somewhat belatedly – that Dickens has made a remarkable recovery, thanks in great part to all the prayers on his behalf. He’s a whole new kitty and is doing very well on his medications.

I’m also a teensy bit nervous at the moment since we’re going on vacation for 9 days, the first time since “Dickie” was diagnosed. We have excellent in-home petcare so I’m confident he’ll be in good hands and will get his meds as usual. Just maybe need a little prayer that he’ll do just fine and remain a happy, healthy kitty!

Thanks again so much for your prayers!!

Urgent Prayer Request for a Feral Cat

From Mary:
Hello. During Hurricane Irene, I tried to transfer a feral cat (with only one eye) who I had saved from a cage to a carrier in a basement that was being flooded and he got away from me. I was unable to get him and he has been missing ever since. The basement never got that bad so he definitely didn't drown. There is a space in between this houses and the house next door (twins) and I fear he is stuck in the wall! I have been losing my mind ever since Saturday night when he got away. That night I had to leave and go back to my house and take care of my animals there because of the flood. There is a small space that we can't locate where a baby opossum had gotten into the basement months ago and we are hoping the cat got out of the basement through that hole before the possibility that he got stuck in the wall. We put food and water in both basements and they do not appear to have gone down. I have set humane traps outside which is how I had gotten him previously before the storm. I was trying to do a good thing and it has backfired on me. The water and food outside doesn't appear to be going down much either although there are other wild animals eating from it too. I am ripped apart and a nervous wreck over this and have a hard time believing that this can be helped by a higher being. Please pray for his safe return. Even if he is outside, it will be more difficult to get him to go into the trap outside again if he is out there because once trapped a lot of cats will not go in. I can't call the fire department because these are rentals and the landlord will flip out. I fear he has dehydrated and starved by now. I spoke with my vet who thinks he still could be alive. He/I really need your prayers. Please help! Please pray for his safe return soon and that I can capture/rescue him again. I have a loving home waiting for him. I am kind of sick over this. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thank you.

Thank you,

Updated Prayer Request for Sophie the Dog - Urgent

Update from Karen:
I just heard from the vet. The family who took Sophie in will not
return her so I will have to file a police report to see if we can get
her back.

Please keep us in your prayers.

From Karen:
Please add another prayer request for the safe return of our Sophie.

We learned last night that a good Samaritan found Sophie the very
morning she got out of our yard and took her to a local vet who sent her
for adoption with the friend of one of their patients who had just lost
his own doxie.

The vet is zealously trying to reach their client to arrange for
Sophie's safe return but we have had no luck yet today. Please have
your prayer warriors request that Sophie be returned to us safely and
add a prayer of thanks that she has been safely cared for all this time
she has been lost.
